I have an ad agency website and want to add multiple languages. Do I need to translate the exact content? Or can I create similar content (on other languages) on a page instead of the translation of same content?

Thanks

Use a translation plugin will allow you to easily add multiple languages to your website. There are a variety of translation plugins available, both free and paid. Depending on the content management system your website is built on.

Good question.

Its all upto you. I do no think it will harm if you keep one piece of content in English, for example, and write altogether different for the Spanish version of that page. Afterall every topic can have a different set of keywords in different languages.

But obviously do not go way too off topic. If the English version is talking about Potato benefits then Spanish version should also talk about the Potato benefits and not how to launch a satellite into the space.

I don't think search engine will compare or relate the Spanish version of your site with the English version and decide accordingly.

So how did that work? Did you auto translated it or made unique articles for each language ?

I want to join this Thread by asking the same question:

It's a similar question, just with SEO and market expansion as additional "questions".

Happy to get some more opinions here in this thread.

So did you auto translate it or created a unique new content in another language from scratch? I think autotranslation in this case is bad, I had bad luck with it in the past with translatepress plugin.

Your best bet to save time and effort is to use something automatic like a plugin or google translate's script.

No, I created nothing so far.
But it's pretty strange because I want to use English Article writers, and additionally, for Project Managers, the Speech is a mix of ENG/DE.

So my question goes in the same direction, to be honest.

Either (with WPML Plugin, for example): First Language and content in ENG and second Language with German, or vice versa?
I already know that my target audience is DE/CH/AT, but it's quite common for them to speak English. I'm not sure if it's probably better to pick German as a first language because of SEO and paid Google Ads.
Furthermore, I think it's "cheaper" to get an Article Writer from BHW who writes in ENG, and I manually crosscheck the translation in German instead of vice versa.
But I'm not sure what the impact on SEO is.

I recommend the free Bogo plugin

You should not make the language versions identical. It is good to let each language version develop individually over time

Just like Wikipedia does

Google's Mueller said something to the effect of "...what's the point if it is the same content, just another language...", hinting (in my understanding) that Google might just translate that. I do not agree but from that comment it seems that Google may not look favourably at identical translations and consider them as yet another mass content production technique

I'd recommend creating similar content tailored to each language instead of directly translating the content. This strategy is called website localisation and it's more effective in reaching the global audience than directly translating the content.
