A question about keywords competition

When you find a highly searched keyword where top 10 websites have thousands of backlinks but aren't optimized for the keyword: not in "title" "description" and "h1" will you go for that keyword ? will this be easy to rank ?

For sure it will be easier to rank with a better optimized site. Still you need to put a lot of effort into it due to the amount of links they have. Just give it a try and maybe let the forum community how it worked out for you.

NTG98 is right. The only way youll know is to try. People will share their experiences, but keywords are different, you can't expect them to all rank with the same strategy. Backlinks play a major part in seo. I've seen many #1 positions with 0 onpage seo, but high quality backlinks. You should look deeper into their backlinks. That being said, you should really give it go, nothing to lose. Your own experience is far greater
 
Here is an example:

Let's say your keyword is "jersey shore final season" and you go to google and type it in, you'd see about 788,000 competition.

Does this mean that you shouldn't go for that keyword?

Well let's go a little bitter further. Let's type "allintitle:jersey shore final season" (without quotes) and what do we see?

The competition is only 50.

So it's SUPER easy to get a first position ranking for that keyword, especially if you own the domain jerseyshorefinalseason.com / .net / .org

The real competition will always be the allintitle:your keyword
 
Simply looking at the # of backlinks and the use of keywords can only give you a rough idea of whether a keyword is worth looking at...nothing more. Nobody on here can tell you whether or not to target a keyword only knowing that the top sites have a bunch of backlinks and little keyword usage. The only real way to know whether or not a keyword is worth targeting is by researching the top sites for that keyword.

So, like NTG98 said, you can either just try it and find out...or you can do competitive research on the top sites to see what you're actually up against.

I work in the adult industry and can tell you that's not true...unless you're targeting a very specific, longtail keyword that's only getting a small # of searches. Allintitle will give you an idea of what pages are focused on that keyword, but that doesn't mean that's your only real competition. The adult industry is heavily dominated by a handful of sites with very little on-page SEO and massive amounts of backlinks.

im on front page for both Allintitle: my key words as well as " my keywords"

I am number four with all in title and number two with my keywords in quotes. I am still far from the front page with a regular search.

i guess it will take time site is only 3 months old. This is a nice topic and should be brought to the front.
 
Having a properly onsite SEOd site will give you a big advantage, but you still need backlinks. Id give it a shot just for the hell of it, you never know.

My answer isn't dumb. It's totally correct. Maybe I was too curt.

I'll spell it out for you, if you want: Nobody knows the google algo, so at the end of the day, yeah it's possible to win anything. However, there are many hidden factors that are simply undiscoverable to us SEO'ers. So the only way to find out is to test something, anything.

It also depends on your ranking strategy. What do you consider "easy"? If everything is automated, you'll have an easier time than someone who is doing it all by hand.

The point is you have to test. Why not whip up a quick blogspot blog on the keyword and see where it falls?

Here's a protip too since I'm so kind, even though you insulted me:
Is the exact match domain registered to someone besides you? If so, someone has tried to SEO it. If not, you'll be that much ahead of the game and you have better odds.

i started my first website in February and was able to rank top 3 for a high competitive keyword after one month of work, believe it or not. Three months ago i started a new website with much less competition, till now i am not able to pass page 3, i don't know if the game's rules have changed. Yesterday i started some keyword researches, so i was confused, it's why i asked the question.
N.B: One difference between the first and second website is the content, the first had a good number of 1000+ words articles, the second have 2 x 500 words articles so i think content helps a lot, i have just ordered content last day to help out.
My experience.
