I have been wondering if I'm doing things right on my site, so I decided to ask the SEO experts here.

What do you guys think about having more than one H1 title tags in a post?

Theme provides for a post title area (which I'm sure has an H1 tag), but I am also in the habit of beginning each post with a H1 heading, and then H2 for subheadings, and so on, in the main content area.

Sometimes, I even have more than one H1 heading in the main content.

What is the SEO consequence of this? What is the SEO best practices as regards this?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I only use it once in a post (article headline).

The only reason that I could see myself using it more than once, is if the article has over 4000 words. But I never publish long posts like that, I rather split it into two articles.

And if I did a 4k article, I would only do a second H1 if there is a big shift in the topic discussed in the article. Which is another thing I wouldn't do, I'd rather make it two articles instead.

I have not performed any tests about this, so I can't say that it's the best practice.

I ran some tests a few months ago, didn't notice any differences

H1s are sacred to Google. Never have more than one on a page.

Use 1 H1 tag
In a Book we dont have more than 1 coverheading
tats the concept

you use a heading tag h1 for the main keyword and description .

you then add the article , you then repeat kw .

you can do this on a page as many times you want .

you can format the h1 with css to change anythink you desire .

you can use h2 ect and use css to look good.

well.. you can use H1 one time no more that ,,, use it twice or more in the longer ones

You need to write content for the user sake, not Google. It's almost the second year when Google does not care about H tags, you can whatever you want. Modern websites are not using any H tags anymore. The rule about only one H1 is overrated and no more is true.
