Hi everyone, I didn't know in what section to post this question so I hope it's fine. I noticed that for all the keywords that I can remember from a few months ago (in google keyword tool) there is a huge increase, like 2x 3x times even more. Is it a bug or just the normal growth of the internet community?

I also just recently began to use micro niche finder and for many keywords that mnf show x amount of searches, the google keyword tool shows three times or more that amount.

Can anyone shed light about this?

Thanks in advance ;)

From my experience, GK shows you la-la figures, mostly to entice you to start a campaign. Could be useful to start researching a niche, but NOT to put your money on.
There is a simple method to test the real volume of search that involves a secondary AdWords account and some funds to run a test campaign. Let me know if you need help to figure that out (pre-requisites are mandatory, and G. doesn't like it, so I will not go into details unnecessary).

so I would better stick with micro niche finder?

Seasonal trends too. For example a term like Water Cooler will have a lot less searches in winter than in summer. Sunglasses, more in summer than winter. Gifts, more around Xmas time etc, etc.

Obviously depends on the search time, but it happnes a lot.

By default MNF shows you the exact match of a keyword.

By default Google's KW Tool shows you the broad match of the keyword. these numbers are significantly higher than exact match.

MNF gets it data from Google.
Just test it yourself.
Do a research in MNF and in Google, set Google to exact match and you will see that the numbers are the same.

Off-topic:
The term "seasonal" was dropped.
This has to be considered when deciding on a niche.

Most methods advise you to go by the local search numbers. These are the searches from last month.
So in January you might see inflated numbers on certain niches/products due to the Holiday Season.

The same goes for, as an example, lawnmowers. When you do a search now you see a slow niche. Just run it again in August and you have a completely different view.

Local search numbers are good...but always look at the global ones as well AND the trend before giving a niche a go.
