A question about domain age

A client has a domain that was purchased almost 2 years ago. Its due to expire next week. Its never had a site or hosting attached to it. Would there be any benefit to using this domain, as it has some age, as opposed to a brand new domain within tiered link building?

The domain doesn't really have any advantage to keyword targeting.

I would say no, if the domain doesn't have any advantages in terms or keywords or even any type-in traffic I would let it drop. Having a two year old domain name will make a negligible difference, upgrade to a .com with a better keyword and that will make a much larger difference in the long run. Good luck! A
