A new forum section "personal"

I might get shot down in flames here but...

What about a new forum section called personal that doesn't appear on the homepage.

Then we don't have to see threads like

I want to kill myself!!

How much does a hooker cost in your country?

I can't find a girlfriend I want to die

I think I might be gay

I'm too scared to sell these weights in case a muscle guy turns up and beats me up and steals my weights

My brother stole my Gameboy so my dad beat me up

Most of those are actually real threads btw lol.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for helping people out but people come to BHW for SEO/IM development.

If we had a personal section then

A) people would feel like they could openly talk about these issues more easily

B) people that want to help would know where to go to help other bhw members

C) homepage would be free of some of the not SEO/IM related things

I know we have the lounge but that's also for SEO/IM stuff unless there is another misc SEO/IM section I haven't seen?

Thoughts?

I understand they currently do but my point is it would be nice to filter these out of the homepage. At the moment the lounge is a mix of misc SEO/IM and personal problems :-)
 
What’s been on your mind lately? Maybe you've come across a website that made you laugh. Almost anything goes here!

The lounge is what gives this forum a "human" value. These threads are a part of it. :D

I see your point. Maybe I'm in the minority and the majority like seeing threads not related to SEO/IM on their homepage. Each to their own :)

It can be amusing sometimes I guess

I have. A script which refreshes the homepage every 5 second and scans for the new posts made by a newbie who registered today with certain footprints like b-a-b-a-j-i or l-o-v-e or p-r-o-b-l-e-m and reports the post automatically.

The thing is at least one Mod should be active on the forum to see the report and delete the posts/ban the spammer. I've seen some baba spam stay in the homepage for more than an hour after its posted.
 
@jamie3000 Here's an idea create yourself Chrome/Firefox extension that will remove lounge threads from the homepage. You won't see such threads anymore, problem solved.

That's actually a decent idea. I may just do that!

Be a nice feature if this ability was build into the forum so you could select the sub forums you want to see on your homepage. No idea how much work that is though.

You can watch any thread by simply hitting the "watch thread" button at the top of the first post. Please note if you contribute to the thread you're automatically added to watching it and will receive notifications the next time it's posted on.

You can watch any forum in the same way - visit the route of the forum, for example, https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/seo-link-building.43/ and hit the watch forum button again top of the forum opposite the page numbers listing. Useful if you want to be alerted when there is a new service added to the marketplace for example.

If you're only interested in following specific users then click on the follow button - (if you're already following them it will show as "UnFollow").

I saw a few of @jamie3000 last posts on the homepage, legit seo questions I was legit interested in, surrounded by bullshit, you are the sum of the people/information you spend your time around.

There are self help forums, I really dislike the fact that these idiotic bullshit topics are appearing in the main homepage repeatedly, its like having a massive cock swinging in your face when your trying to do your taxes, it's gonna distract you even if you don't like dick. I know building a community is good but repeatedly having shit about someones negative bullshit life ranking on the homepage is not what I come here for.

I even see a lot of people get distracted by them, good productive members on here, this shit is not productive, they are not helping me make more money or sharing knowledge, most of them are straight up sexist bordering on misogyny, and I'm saying that ,I have a fucking half naked girl as my avatar.

People who post this bullshit know exactly what they are doing, trying to bring other people down to that level of bullshit cause they dont want others to win in life because if there life is shit so should others, anyone who actually legit wants help on a topic via a forum would go to the correct source of info.
Cant get laid? You go study pickup or go on rsd forums.
Wanna know price of hookers you go on vivastreet or adultwork sites/forums.

Posting that on here is just a form of not having your own success so trying to derail others success, by spending 30 seconds on that thread vs something productive you aint getting that time back.


I really think these threads are a bit destructive towards the goal of the forum.


The kind threads Jamie is talking about are alienating a lot of people because of their topics, they drain peoples time energy as they take the focus of people, they are not only negative they act like crack cocaine for getting actual real world shit done and money made, sure we can just ignore it but its not a good UX, and as I mentioned it's clearly not productive, people are getting caught up in them when they could be studying/building ads/sites.

I've stopped hanging out in real life with anyone who behaves like that, I don't enjoy having to tiptoe around this forum to avoid it while on here, I can ignore it but its annoying and I shouldn't have to.

Some of the lounge threads are fine, its not really that which is a problem, its when some bullshit essentially negative unproductive crap gets viral on here by sucking people in getting tons of replies people are buying into that bullshit by even replying regardless of the nature of the reply thats time of your life wasted, I'm sick of hearing threads about not getting laid or life is shit, or some bullshit about wanting to die, there is a time and place for those kind things.

This happens occasionally because people get lazy and post any and every thread in the lounge and black hat SEO section. I'll go through the lounge right now and move all of the threads to the appropriate sections.

Thanks, apologies for causing you work dude.

Has there ever been a misc section? So when you want to ask a SEO/im question but it doesn't really fit anywhere it doesn't have to sit with everyone's random stuff in the lounge? I guess in theory there is a section for everything if you look hard enough.
