Hey guys, I'll make this quick and simple... I haven't found this anywhere on the forum so I think it's quite a nice addition... I do apologize if it has already been shared somewhere

THE TRICK

Using Apacha Handlers in your cPanel to create links that look like mydomain.com/download/popular-song.mp3 but in reality lead to a PHP page with whatever you want on it..

THE RESOURCE

Code:
http://www.tutorialhero.com/tutorial-62404-adding_apache_handlers_in_cpanel.php

THE METHOD

1. You create a page with all the popular songs ppl wanna download... you make links like "DOWNLOAD HERE" which links to a page ending in .mp3 .. naturally even the internet savvy users will click on it! There you cookie stuff, add BHCB, do whatever it is that you do to make money

2. You create a page with thumbnails of hot naked chics... naturally the person hovers over the image and sees a link leading to .jpeg ... THEY ARE GOING TO CLICK!

3. You get the point right? Twist as much as you want as this can literally be used with ANYTHING to DRAMATICALLY increase your click through rate and conversions

THE DO's AND DONT's

DONT -
turn some popular extension like .jpg to be treated as PHP.. this means ALL .jpg files on your domain will be treated that way, instead use something uncommon but specific like .jpeg .bmp ... etc

DONT - remark on how easy, simple, and well known this is... i know there are many very talented and very knowledgable people on here, but its far from the majority of the site

DO - give me a thanks if u found this useful :D

Lol no one wants to comment on my method, but some "i pretend to be a pregnant mom to make $5-10/day" thread is burning hot... wow

uh oh, wish u all good luck and maybe some will appreciate this share

This is very smart. I've wondered if it was possible to change what shows up at the bottom left of the browser then you hover over a link.

Thanks for the tip.

well this will change the text it shows when they HOVER over a link.. but i wonder if it's possible to set specific text to show when the status bar is LOADING pages / transferring data from servers.. that'd be awesome, if anyone knows a trick to that please do share

Recently I started seeing ads that don't display ANY link in the status bar thing at the bottom left... how do they do this? Flash? Is there a way to do this with text links???

An alternative strategy chasing this goal is to use some javascript coding to distract your users when they are hovering over links. For example, popping a jack-in-the-box up when people hover over links tends to make them miss the url in the lower left hand corner.

However, this thread is very good nonetheless.
