I was hoping someone familiar with the intricacies of how proxies work can give me some assistance.

I am currently unable to get my private SOCKS proxies to work on my computer. They worked for a while and now and I can?t get any application to connect to the web with them. I can get HTTPS proxies to work just fine, but not SOCKS.

It is not the proxies themselves because I have tried private SOCKS proxies from multiple sources. It?s always the same situation; HTTPS proxies from the source work fine but I can?t connect with the SOCKS proxies.

I am running Windows XP Home. I have tried using the SOCKS proxies with Proxy Firewall, Proxifier, and FreeCap. No luck with any of them.

Is there some configuration on my system I should be checking? I am really at a loss with this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you using SSH tunneling as Socks or a native Socks proxy served by a server?

I need this info before I can help you further.

I heard socks proxy are only workable in 24 hours timeframe and each one has a different connecting speed.

Download and try socks5helper from here
ht tp://socks-5.com/socks5_howto.php
it's totally free and safe
the good thing socks5helper has is the information box which shows all the connecting information when you are using one socks4/5 proxy.

Need more info about your PC to help you.
First check your firewall if you have one.

Hey Myzona,
Specifically what info would you like about my PC? And, what specifically would you suggest I check with my firewall?

Quick Update:

I figured out my issue by cruising a few proxy forums. Thanks a lot for those of you who were attempting to assist me.
