I've stumbled upon a keyword with 450k exact monthly searches. All the results in google are for a related search term, but not the exact one. I am having a hard time figuring out what to write as there is no content elsewhere. The websites ranking on the first page are selling that similar product (big sellers such as amazon, walmart, thinkgeek etc).

So what should I write? Is this a bad keyword because there is no niche or does that just mean more opportunity?

My classification of a good niche is if there is a good clearly related product to promote that will make some real $$$. There's no point in putting the effort into getting traffic if you can't make any money out of it.

The thing is, there is obviously a demand for the product because there are searches for it, so would I want to find someone willing to produce such a product?

Thats a really tough one, I would suggest it would totally depend on the type of keyword that this is. Generally I classify keywords into one of four categories, in descending order of value they are:

1) Products
2) Problems
3) Informational
4) Time wasters

As an example these could be (all related to the new SENuke Product):

1) SENuke X review
2) Website doesn't rank in Google/No traffic coming from Google
3) What makes one site rank better than another
4) How to create new profiles in SENuke

You should be able to see that a conversion for 1 is highly likely, possible for 2, remote for 3 and highly unlikely for 4.

If you workout which one your keyword fits into it will ofter tell you weather or not to peruse it.

That all being said, the fact that it has such a high search volume, and apparently so easy to rank you could use it for a few other things:

Generate Junk Traffic to offset your Blackhatting
CS (not that I condone this)
Redirected traffic
Popunder advertising
Free offer CPA ads
etc

Hope some of the ideas above will help you in your decision.

lol just go for it. see if there is other pages out there with bits and snips of this and that about your project. copy and paste em into a long rambling one page website and watch what search traffic lands on your page.. add those search phrases that bring traffic to your site and add that in there as well. use google webmaster tools to see what google figures your site is about and add those in there as well. if it sounds like a chinese immigrant with an east indian accent pretending to be spanish who cares long as its not obviously machine made you'll be ok. use sb to make links with your main keyword anchor text and atleast 20 other supporting anchor text keywords. as you see new traffic hitting your site and google webmaster tools generating data on what google thinks your site is about add those data results into links and goto town. if its not a local search make your main page plus 9 others and use a ten page website and the same ideas above to grab the top 10 positions and sit back and enjoy the money.

I really have no interest in Micro Niching. If you like I'll take a look over it.

It's simple. Write stuff that's painfully obvious about whatever it is. (Just like most of the crap on Ezinearticles) As long as you're pretending to write to a moron, you'll easily get 300 words.

That's a tough question I can tell. Anyways, couple of my suggestions:

Go sell a product if its a product related.

could you possibly create a new product for it? informational etc?
