It would be same law for other SE also. Not sure how many of them are ready to pay news publishers just for existing.

I read the replies and I'm amazed the sheep mentality some experienced members have....do you really don't realize that G is profiting from all of us?....what AU gov is doing is the minimal normal thing.
It's like Google vs. the common monkey to afraid to lose the banana that G throws it from time to time from the banana tree that monkey owns.

At the beginig it was fun and games but today the tech giants have too much power and it's only a matter or time until they will start to use that power in the wrong way.
Maybe @bartosimpsonio can explain it better than me.

Nobody force anyone to use Their tools. I don't mind google profiting from people using their tolls and really dont see how is that a problem.

The brainwashing that happened on the Internet is absurd.
People get convinced of the most absurd BS imaginable.
Companies convince stupid users that they're charities and not for profit.
Politicians convince users vaccines are bad and their World War II narrative is good.
It's insane.
There are very smart people out there who don't believe they read your free emails. They think the privacy statement works inside the company. It doesn't. Internally they read everything, they just can't leak stuff directly.
It's stupid. We're surrounded by idiots everywhere.

I hope it happens. I don't like monopolies in general, and american monopolies in particular. We need alternatives to everything if we want to live in a free world
