Hello. Yesterday I got in contact with a guy from china who claims he is a web dev and can't earn much as a freelancer from China because the payrate is very low so he was looking for someone from Europe. He want's me to create an Upwork account that he can use on my PC (via team viewer) to get freelance work. Basically, connect to my PC to submit proposals, talk with clients, etc. He gives me 50$ after getting accepted by Upwork and then 200$ per month. I mean there are lots of ways that this can be a scam, but I'm going to use an old PC that has nothing on it (he even said that a formated computer would be better). So I was wondering if this has ever happened to any of you? Do you think he wants to scam? Is there something in this "story" that I'm missing?

If this quy is serious u can be intermediary.

Managing upwork account and trying to find contract for him...

He can basically just rent a VPS from Europe but offering you money..... very suspicious...... just keep logs on his activities etc

He can't because he already has an account and upwork requires video verification after first job. So he needs to use my account and then I need to verify the account by video call with upwork team.

Why not pay someone for once to get this done instead paying you 200 per month.

Remember its attached to your ip. That is quite a lot of money for essentially a vps. I'd steer clear

Setup a VM inside your computer that you keep running 24/7 if it's real you get money if it's not you ain't loosing shit

There are a lot of these type of scams. I remember when I was searching for jobs even on freelancer I would find bunch of these guys. The point is that upwork have more strict rules that apply and it is not that easy to get into it. Not to mention that who knows what these guys are doing with these accounts...

To be honest I would not accept this, nor I accepted when I found people that asked me for this. My advice is to avoid doing such a favor, specially when you are talking to

One born every minute, next thread by you will be " this Nigerian prince needs $1000 and he'll send me $100,000 should I go for it ?"

Just to be on safeside
1.Give him VM access only.
2.Dont let him run any executable file.
3.Just keep tabs on his activities.
