Anyone have a good resource on press releases? I want to put together a system of sending out regular press releases for my offline business. I'm looking for insider tricks to actually getting them picked up by reporters instead of just sending out lots for backlinks.

Thanks.

My friend, i recommend a nice book called 'Buzz Marketing'

You need something like a 'link bait' to attract those real life reporters.

Something dirty, something sexual, something rare, something scammy-looking. Basically, something that will attract interest and the masses will be like 'omg, it's on 5 o'clock news'.

Final advice - buy the aforementioned book!

While expensive you may want to check our PRweb. Some of their packages actually syndicate to different media outlets... and I know even some go to the newspapers like Ny Times... They also offer discounts if you plan to do more then 12 a year its maybe a 20% discount.

Thanks to both of you... I'll check out both. I do remember seeing that PRWeb is a good deal. Hadn't hard about Buzzmarketing.

PRWeb is probably the best service to get your releases pick up by sites and reporters. However, if you want to go free you can use the software Article Submission Helper, which is free, and add custom directories that are free PR sites. You can submit around 100 and hope for the best. It is good for backlinks as well, so you at least get that if they don't get picked up.

PRWeb is expensive but a good alternative is onlineprnews.com which offers a $22 basic PR and you can add upto 4 links inside the content. It also shows up in Google news.
