A fresh start - lvl 1

Hello awesome people!

Thrilled to be here!

About me:

- Turning 29 next week
- Live in Hong Kong, home is Cyprus
- Skills: factory sourcing, forecasting, and talking about the next big biz idea with 0 action
- Work: small trading (export) company
- BSc + Masters degree from top uni in HK

So for the last 5 years, I've been chasing the next big thing, easy money, trends, brainstorming how to make the next Tesla overnight and retire in Thailand by the time in 30. Hah Hoped it's possible by reading countless self-help books and 'researching' aka mental masturbating for that next big thing I can work on and get rich with minimal effort....

Yeah, ain't happening kid! Time to swallow the red pill and look reality in the eyes. Accept that it all starts with skill acquisition, in real life, you can't start with lvl 60. Great to have a burning desire for remote work, moving back to Cyprus - settling down, thinking about family. Realization that jumping from one idea to the next will not bring you anywhere, blaming it all on geographical location/mentor you don't have / unfortunate social circle. Wake up, had such a head start, yet all the poor choices YOU've made brought you here. Solution? FOCUS! Consistency and lvling up in progression! Action - not 'research'

SEO
Copywriting
Web Design
Paid Social Media

Happy to finally find a tribe of like-minded people, to keep me accountable and grind towards the goal - replacing 5k USD monthly income - online.

P.S. Any drop of wisdom on how to best get to the goal would be much appreciated :-*

Hi. You will unlock them once you turn 30. Most of them are easy to start with, but take years to practice.

Research is for professors, using that research and taking action for the entrepreneur

That's the issue, jumping from one thing to the next without a clear vision is the worst enemy, still at the same place I was 5 years ago! Thanks for the heads up

Hey, welcome the forum - - trust me it's a great place to learn everything you mentioned, I'm shocked how quickly I'm learning new skillsets everyday at BHW.
Just focus on one thing at a time, though - - IMO there's so much good info here, it's tempting to try everything at once and end up leaving half of them unfinished...

That's exactly my issue mate! In my day job I'm tasked with launching a new product (DTC), but literally have no direction as to where to begin as we are a small team and it's mostly my assistants that barely speak English... Finally made a random dropshipping store this year and made few sales to practice Facebook ads. So in a way I'm very fortunate to be in a place where I am free to do what I want and actually practice/work on skills I need for my vision!

However, at the same time, it gets tough not having a clear direction of what you have to be working on first and prioritising tasks... What are you working on? Where did you begin your journey?

I think that if you are absolutely new to IM world it might be overwhelming all the different paths you can take, it's very tempting to try all of them - in the end you won't get good in any of them So when you just start look through the IM Journeys and find the ones that you think resonate with you. Then focus just on one thing. But eventually down the line in order to be REALLY good you'd need to be a full stack marketer, so know a few different methods.

Personally, a logical progression for me seems to be 1) SEO by practicing on your own website, during this stage you practice writing and copywriting when you reach out for backlinks 2) Paid advertising (Facebook seems the easiest for what I'm trying to achieve) 3) Introduce your own eCommerce / digital products.


Also, I tend to get lost in information, especially when I'm just learning, so I think it makes sense to find a course initially (plenty of download links on BHW) and follow it as you practice on your website, then use the search bar on BWH to dig deeper. But i think it's important not to think ohhh i don't know anything, I need to do a lot of research first. Better dive right into it whilst learning along the way! This is why having a community to keep you accountable and guide you along the path is so important
