I'm partly to blame for pointing them directly at my money site, but I was a noob and didn't know any better. Nonetheless, the links weren't very good but I guess paying for that amount for a certain price should expect such results..

Point is, my site lost severe rankings. Most keywords on Page 1 are not even in Top 100. What are my options here?

Is there any way I can remove bad links? I mean there's so many I doubt it...

Do I just purchase high quality links to drown them out over time so my keywords return?

I submitted a reconsideration request, and they said there was no "manual action take by our webspam team." <- lol.

It's been 3 months since this happened, I thought my penalty might lift cause I've been adding solid content. Nothing has changed still and I can't wait forever. Advice please?

What kind of links did you purchase?
Were they blog comments and forum profiles?

The services in the BST are good but you should know where to use them and when.
High PR links is probably the way yo go now.

I had a similar problem, continue with the link building but find some more quality links, I was on the last page for every keyword and after 3 months, boom #2 page 1.

Google is not ranking your site for a reason, you have a low trust score, this is caused by building manipulative links from the start.

You are also building low quality links to your site and probably have low quality content, building more low quality links does not increase your trust with Google.

obtain links from quality resources, these can be found by searching on Google for broad terms that relate to your niche, this will give you a higher trust score. gain high quality links, then Google will appreciate your site more in the serps.

Don't worry about removing your bad links, Google has already devalued them.

A reconsideration request is for when your site gets banned, this is always obvious - go to google search and type your domain into the search bar i.e www.yourdomainname.com if it does not rank then you are either banned or you don't have any links pointing to the site, but we already know you have built links to your site.

    Conclusion:

Work on earning high quality links
Create original content that people want to link to

Your methods are easily detectable by Google, this is not blackhat SEO, that is beginner SEO. My advice to you is to learn your trade and in order to do that you have to be familiar with how Google operates.

It might not be a quality of link issue, but rather a quantity issue. The problem might not be that the links are bad, it might just be that they were done too fast and are all of the same type.

My advice is to build some real high authority links related to your niche. Blog and profile link are not going to help anytime soon. I personally would do some manual .gov and .edu link hunting, and some software pad submissions to the higher rated download sites and see if they will approve your software. These links carry very high link juice, and stick very well. It is almost impossible to spam them because most of them are manually reviewed. I have never seen this process fail to raise rankings and increase a site's authority.

Keep adding quality content and links, make sure you have good link diversity including all kinds of links, but concentrate on high PR, high authority links. Doing some extensive internal page linking will also get the link juice flowing thru to each page of your site instead of just the home page.

If this is your only money site, build another one right now, or start buying traffic. You can likely rank a new site before this one rebounds. It may be a while before it comes back.

BTY, IMO purchasing links is your real problem.

    I have high quality content.

The question is, is it a quantity of links or quality of links problem. I'd assume the latter.

What are types of links I should focus on? Any good services?
