A few scrapebox Q's

I ran scrapebox as a test for the first time 6 days ago. 3 links have shown up on G this morning.

I'm getting ready for a second run, but before I open the valve I want to make sure that I understand a few things better.


Word press vs Blog engine.

1) I did word press. If I chose blog engine, will it look for my keywords and find a completely different set of blogs if I chose 1 over the other? I harvested URLs and the exact same # of results came up. If it's the same result harvested, what does the WP and BE radio buttons do?

2) Results. So it said that I had 200 and some success. Do the authors/owners of the blogs have to approve my posts some times? Since a few hundred said that they were successful, and only 3 are currently showing up, are some more getting indexed by G soon, or were truly only 3 of a few hundred successful?

3) How are people finding so many sites to scrape? I entered about 20 lines of different combinations and different words for key words and it only found around 1500 blogs on a very common search term. Like if my site was about dogs i did for example:

dogs
dog walking
puppy care
dog bathing
caring for your dog
dog health
etc,etc


4) Is there a way to save the blogs it's already posted on? I looked though the log files and I didnt see any history, but watching the videos it looked like there was.

5) Lets say I fix whatever it is that I'm doing wrong to harvest URLs and get 10,000 sites. and I want to comment 200 a day. Do I copy 200-400 out of my file and put them in a text file and load that file as my list? Is there a spot in scrapebox to stop posting at X posts?

Learn a bit more before you blast again - this tool is getting abused unnecessarily. To answer you questions though:

1) The harvester will find completely different blogs if you select Wordpress, Blog engine or Moveable type. These are all different platforms and you wont find the same URL on both.

2)Success results shown will vary. Generally if you blast 1000 WP blogs with the proxies on from the harvester you will get 200-300 success. Then a very small percentage will be auto approve, the rest will be moderated. This is why you need to write plenty (about 5-10) decent comments with spinable text.

3) Try increasing the "results" box from 50 to a higher number.

4)Not sure what you mean

5) you can do that if you want. I wouldnt worry as the comments will take up to three weeks to get accepted so it will look natural anyway

Some important tips:

Always remove duplicate domains
Dont waste time spamming blogs with no PR, always check the PR and remove blogs with a PR of less than 2-3.
Search these forums for scrapebox there are lots of threads to help u

Scrapebox is more of a precise tool than you probably think. Dont spam to thousands of irrelevant blogs with no PR you wont benefit and you will get flagged as a spammer by Google

Like I said, I'm trying to learn more before I go hardcore with it.

and I've already ready nearly all of the SB posts on BHW. It was only then that I felt comfy enough for a trial run.

The max results you can get per keyword is 4k(1k max per search engine). What i do is add all my blogs ive posted to into a text file and use the compare function to remove ones ive already posted to.

As jimbo alluded to, spin the living hell out of your comments. Power Article Rewriter or the Best Spinner, I've read good things about both (I use PAR myself), but even a thesaurus or the human brain will work. Make sure your comments will form reasonably good grammar in the spun versions (e.g. don't use comments like "{Comfortably|Assuredly|Restfully} was I {perusing|bemoaning|understatedly} {relating|conceiving|giving birth to} to the gardens...." - I think you get my drift.

Here's a portion of a highly-spun comment as an example:

I {understand|see|realize} the {concern|worry}, but so long as their {prices|costs} are {competitive|aggressive}, it {seems|appears} there could be a {lot|bunch|great deal|good deal} of {advantages|rewards} to this.

Do a few more sentences like that per comment, and write 10-20 comments that are that spun, and you've got gold, Jerry.

On comments showing up, and seeing backlinks/changes in the SERP's/etc., two things:
- yes, many sites are moderated, in my experience most blog admin's (~90-95%) will moderate everything within 24-48 hours
- the search engines (and esp. big G) take days or even weeks to index blog comments; so don't expect those to show up in the indexes any time soon; and that's not such a bad thing really

On #3 - use the keyword scraper in s-box to find keywords related to your keywords; recently the developer of sbox added several new sources to scrape keywords from, using those you can get a tonne of kw's; also I didn't see if you were using the timeline feature to limit the index period for each search engine; using it will limit your results, sometimes that's useful though when you're trying to target more narrowly

#4 - yes, after a comment run, you export the "good" ("succesful") and/or the "bad' ("failed") to a text file; is that what you're looking for?

Yeah great tip, and reminds me two things I forgot:

run the Alive Checker to weed out any dead sites - speeds up your run

IMHO, run the Alexa checker in addition to the PR checker - gives you more insight into the overall quality of targets

greg, you did a great job answering the ones that weren't. I appreciate it.

As far as spining and comments.....I did what I felt was a great job at spinning. But only did 5 of them. Will do 20 next time. It came down to it being the last box, and new toy/impatience. Next time I'll spend a lot of time doing better there. One thing that I've been doing is reading real blogs and looking for common real things and making a comments-notes file for when i make the next one.

Sorry to hijack but I have another issue with it and using 10 private proxies from yourprivateproxy.

In the recent runs the WP fast commenter has been sticking by 'Retrying' to comment on the same posts. When it has 10 that is like this it basically just stops.

Has anyone seen this and/or know how to fix it?

Excellent thread and thanks for all the tips as they cover a lot of the issues I've been having. One more question to add - how many names and emails should we throw in to the mix? I've been running Scrapebox with around 8-10 unique names and emails per blast. Should that be more?

I'm trying to build my list of URL's to post but scrapebox keeps crushing after 50-70k links harvested.
Is there any way of saving harvesting results? I have around 500 keywords and when it breaks, it start from the beginning. Should I add 10-20 keywords and harvest URLs in bulks?

look in the folder where scrapebox.exe resides - there will be files in there that start with "crashdump" - that's where your harvested URL's can be found after a crash.

I am not getting why, we should run PR before removing duplicates? I thought the logic way was to remove the duplicate domains before checking for domain PR.

Or are you suggesting to get page PR or domain PR?

I remove duplicate URLs then I like to run PR for pages then delete low PR pages. Then I remove duplicate domains. Or some variation of that. Depends if I'm being lazy and really want to narrow down my list.
