A drop in backlinks?

I checked Google webtools and Majestic SEO and both are showing more links than Yahoo. So if no one has lost rankings, i'll bet its just a Yahoo thing and were OK.

Like the guy above said, this happens on a regular basis with Yahoo. It happens every couple of months for some reason.

I think the reason that everyone is up in arms is because of the talk about Microsoft and Yahoo.

So don't get all worked up about this stupid thread unless you see your site drop off page 1 or something of the sort.
 
I don't know why you guys should take care about this, Why don't take time to create more backlinks?
If you are experienced webmasters, it's normal case, actually.
 
My link count bounced back up again to almost where it was. I don't know if it it's new links just getting indexed or Yahoo now counting them again. Anyway...I feel good again! This calls for a beer!!

I lost about 50% of my backlinks in YSE but my rankings have been completely unchanged. I imagine they are now exclusively using data from Bing, even in YSE.

Some of you have been asking what has happened to the backlinks.
Here's a message from the Site Explorer Product Manager:

"We are working with the Microsoft team to ensure that webmasters can continue to use Yahoo! Site Explorer to view inlinks (a.k.a backlinks) to a given webpage or a website and to further be able to export them as CSV if desired.

Please note that this functionality will be available only through the Site Explorer UI and not through the Webservices API.

For me the same. One of my site 2400 to 1100. i think they are updating something. May be Yahoo filtering duplicate domain urls. i m not sure.
 
My main website went from 90,000+ backlinks to 55,000..but unlike alot of you guys, I dropped to last spot on 2nd page. This is a highly competitive term, but I've noticed NONE of my competitors have dropped any noticeable amount of backlinks. what the fuggg is going on!!!! >:O
 
I had a drop on my backlinks too.One went from 1155 to 589 and others lost about half of their links.I have been checking on somebody else"s site and it went from 1050 to 472.I did check on SERPs but there is no change.I guess it happened to everyone.
 
Having the same here.
Had around 8000 on my entire site, now somehow 2600 are left. Pretty bad. Must be a major update.

Another site of mine dropped from around 1000 to 370. Uargh...
 
I have noticed that my links are starting to go up again
 
I just don't like that this makes finding your competitors back links much much harder....
 
My sites lost a bunch of backlinks on y explorer a few weeks ago, then they magically came back about a week ago, then they disappeared again. I'm talking like drop from 4000 to 800. That said, I'm moving up the serps & that's all I really care for. :D
