A drop in backlinks?

I've been using scrapebox for a couple of weeks now to build back-links on a primary site and a few .info site redirected. One of my .infos shot way up to about 5000 back-links while others seem to be taking a lot longer. I'm talking 50 times as much as the others. My main site went up to nearly a thousand back-links yesterday but I noticed today it has dropped back down to a little over 800. I had nearly 200 back-links fall off.

I'm still a relative newbie and could use an explanation as to why that happened.

I don't have as much as you but I had like 80 yesterday and now It is at 45.
 
A lot of my sites have lost backlinks in the last couple of days, some significantly.

And it is not just sites that used scrapebox backlinks. I think something is going on. It hasn't effected ranking in SERPS yet.

I did a twitter search on losing backlinks and came up zilch, I thought it must just be me.

Are others seeing this loss of backlinks?
 
Yeah i just checked 3 of my sites this morning in yahoo site explorer, and so far i lost 3,000 to 5,000 on each! I really hope this is temp.
 
My losses were equally split between Altavista and Yahoo. I hardly have any on Google anyway....yet!
 
same here, I went from 1073 down to 438 today. Dont know whats going on. But like the others, I havent seen any change in serps.
 
Ditto, Yahoo Explorer went from 500 to 280 links. This is wild! All within the last 12 hours. Guess we'll just have to wait it out. It appears to be cleaning up its SE. A lot of old indexed pages that no longer exist were finally removed.

I totally agree with you. I use scrapebox a lot and i do notice this but only a few trickle off from time to time. With that said everyone on here has lost almost half of their backlinks in the last 24 hours! It has to be something else.

I am glad its not only me. I was gradually building back links for a site and seeing some payoff. Suddenly tons of my links are gone and Yahoo only sees 2 pages of my site. Anyone have any clue what is going on.
 
Same here, I noticed this this morning it has effected all of my websites where all backlinks are showing a drop of approx 50%. Did a search for news but came up with nothing until I checked in here.
 
I dropped 600 today, between 50-100 is normal, but when i checked today i was very surprised.
 
I think it could be that some of your backlinks were from "recent comments" section and would explain why they disappear after a few days.

Are you getting a ton of backlinks from a couple sites but you only posted a few times? This would indicate the recent comments problem.
 
Same here. About 50% of all backlinks. New or old sites, no difference. I never used SB.
 
I made a search online and found out that this happens time to time. Last time seems to be about 8 months ago and those backlinks were back after a couple of days. Not sure why. But the explanation was that yahoo cleaned its own "weaker" backlinks and all those pages that are not existing anymore but still indexed.
Got that from the Search Engine Journal.
 
This effect has nothing to do with SB or comment posts it is across the board. Doesn't seem to matter whether the site is old or new either.

But life goes on...
 
I checked Yahoo Site Explorer just now and came up with 50% of what I had yesterday. Glad it wasn't me, and glad It's going to come back.
 
I just wanted to confirm this for others as well, I had this happen to me practically across the board.

Interesting, I'm wondering if Yahoo Site Explorer has reduced the percent of visible links...
 
Glad I'm not the only one who this happened to today. My site lost about 1k backlinks :confused:

Holy s-h-i-t......now i don't feel so bad. Hey what ever happend to that young jeezy site anyhow? Why aren't you building any backlinks to it? I really want to see it dominate in the serps.
