How do you know they are trusted PBNs? The seller I bought mine from made me trust him but his PBN is rubbish

yeah but if you sell pbn links, they are not private anymore, it's called common senseIts all about who you're getting them from
Good PBNs are the ones you made it by yourself for yourself, not selling them to hundreds of people and calling them private.
Just stay from them, if you want to use PBN, build your own one
There isn't a fool-proof way. While I haven't bought PBN links recently from here, one thing to always look for is to see if the seller actually contributes to BHW vs just milking it for money.
People who generally share quality content are here for the long haul.
And look for reviews on the thread. Discard all reviews from people who got a review copy. Watch for for sales threads where a lot of the reviews are "edited" - I think those were actually bad reviews that were either refunded or rectified later.
It would be good to know what due diligence other folks do before buying any service here.
There was a Google a update regarding affiliate content during that time.
Most probably your site was hit by that update.

PBNs are a sales and marketing term. Its just not worth the money. Whats the problem with registering own domains? Its not a kindergarten I believe.

While am not saying you should buy pbn, one thing I know is all websites are not the same. It should be same for PBNs since they're just websites as well.

If it's algorithmic, it was most likely not link related. As someone mentioned already, there was an algorithmic update that cost a lot of sites (even those with super clean link profiles) their rankings in March 2021. Otherwise you'd have a related message in GSC.
But to build upon your consensus:
PBNs do work, but they ARE risky. There's no doubt about it (and that's coming from a PBN seller). There are ways to reduce that risk to a minimum, but you cant eliminate it completely. Especially for a public network that's build for selling links. This applies to any kind of 'for-offer' link building though. Google is a fickle beast with unpredictable movements. It always has been. Who knows what happens in the next big core update? Name of the game has always been 'Adapt or Die'.
Best advice I can give you: If in doubt use them as tier 2 and point them at some selective tier 1 links (preferrably those that you have some control over).
