Bad advice. A true, real PBN is just a collection of normal websites, so you can't possibly get into trouble for getting backlinks from normal websites

With that being said, in 99% of cases user is to blame not PBNs really. (I would know, I've been that user for dozens of times)
Is this algorithmic or manual? If manual, your website got reviewed manually which means you stood out one way or another. Usually unnaturally high link velocity does this.

Ah, it sucks to see this, it is a solid fall and steps back, and I think I know who you got it from.
Unfortunately, most PBN's just don't work, they are not worth even linking to a brand new domain, let alone something at least a few months old, and over that.
