A critical AI issue no one talks about

I signed up and used Open AI for the first time, today. It was admittedly impressive in how it generated answers and how it understood the flow of our conversation.

After getting wowed by it repeatedly, I decided to test its ingenuity. So I typed this into the chatbox:

"How to turn off a PS4"

I asked it several times and it returned the same block of text each time.

Open AI is a highly practical tool, but those who rely on it alone to produce SEO content will probably face a lot of duplicate content issues down the road.

If Google detects AI content or if Google decides to detect AI content, I am quite pretty much highly doubtful that Google would employ 1 billion people to manually detect all the AI generated content(s) that appear on websites that appear on Google.
My logic tells me that if Google detects AI content or if Google decides to detect AI content, then Google would use AI to detect AI content. AI as we all know is not yet perfect. hence, quite logically, AI based detection would also not be perfect / is not yet perfect.
Google using AI to detect AI, would be like thief # 1 using thief # 2 to catch thief # 3. It is bound to get messy (I guess it is already quite messy, but the stink has not yet "erupted").

My post is about AI generating the same pieces of text for all users which is bound to cause duplicate content issues. It has nothing to do with detection.

If AI is generating the same pieces of text for all users which is bound to cause duplicate content issues, then how do you know that all these various AI generated content (the same pieces of text for all users) are causing duplicate content issues ? On what basis do you come to know that there are duplicate content issues ? Do you manually check with all the millions of websites on the world wide web, in order to know that there are duplicate content issues ? Or do you use any tool or software for knowing that there are duplicate content issues ? If you are using a tool or software for knowing that there are duplicate content issues, then all such tools use AI in order to detect duplicate content issues.
Who or what decides these duplicate content issues ? Is it you, me, they, them or is it AI that we rely on for knowing or rather detecting duplicate content issues ? I use Copyscape to detect duplicate content issues. And Copyscape uses AI to detect duplicate content issues. May be in your case, you browse the entire world wide web and you manually detect duplicate content issues and it is also fine that way.

How long did you exactly "test", because OpenAI is definitely capable of generating unique answers for the same prompt. I assume you used ChatGPT? Or did you use OpenAI playground?
 
For example P1: To turn off a PS4, make sure it is in the main home screen. Now, press and hold the power button for about seven seconds. An on- screen prompt will appear to ask if you want to power off your console - select the ‘Power Off’ option from the display. If you want to not only turn your PS4 off but also put it into rest mode, select ‘Enter Rest Mode." The console will now begin shutting down and its LED light should start blinking. Once it is completely turned off, press and release the power button one more time to make sure that no charge remains in its circuits which can possibly damage your device.

Turning off your PS4 is a simple process. First, press and hold the power button on your console until you hear two beeps, one when you first press, and another 7-8 seconds later. This tells the system that there has been a shutdown request, and it will now turn itself off. You may have to wait a few minutes for it to completely power down. Edit: Notice that the generated output also bypasses the AI Detection Tools with 90-99% Original content. It is just what you tell OpenAI exactly to do, I believe it is called prompt engineering.

I used Chatgpt. It gave me the same answer each time though. What tool did you use?

I used OpenAI Playground, however you can use the same method with ChatGPT. Just ask ChatGPT to write in a certain way, for example: Can you write an article on: "How to turn off a PS4". I want you to use an active voice and make sure to not repeat the same words

This is just an example but there are literally millions if not billions unique answers ChatGPT can create on this "How to turn off a PS4" question alone. Just make sure to use a different prompt.
 
I wouldn’t use ChatGPT for the obvious answers. I normally use it for more creative work or brainstorming or cannot find answers from one google search result.

Looks like there's a way around the repetition, then, but not many people know this, so noobs will still get a lot of duplicate content.
 
Anyone who expects to dominate search engine rankings and outcompete thousands of similar competitors, better put in a “bit” of effort.

By changing the prompt, ChatGPT can produce literally undetectable content, that is written exactly like a human.

But you do have a point … if everyone can get instant answers, that are very similar in nature … if not duplicate … then Google will need to start relying on off-page ranking factors more heavily.

It should be your responsibility to edit the content for uniqueness and check for plagiarism before publication.
