This could make someone some quick upfront cash with a potential backend niche site and/or mailing list pretty much built in for recurring income potential.

Just happened to see this -
    Code:
    http://www.nerdist.com/2014/03/the-next-big-thing-in-star-wars-bathroom-fixtures-the-sarlacc-toilet/
This looks like something that could go/is going viral - not familiar with FB stats on something like that (1100 likes/225 shares in the first hour good? bad?). The original creator doesn't seem real interested in cashing in...take a look here -

    Code:
    http://www.toiletsarlacc.com/get-your-own/
On a side note, don't try going to the root of the site. He's got something squirrelly going on with the image slider.

    • 1. Grab domain
    • 2. Get illustrator to recreate images :angel01: or rip the images on the site and trace them using a graphics program :scool:
    • 3. Find vinyl print service for physical product
    • 4. Create downloadable graphic set
    • 5. Create site with pages for 3 & 4, making sure to grab details for future promotion
    • 6. Promote on SM, related sites
    • 7. Profit!

    BTW, sarlacctoilet.com is available :D

Good stuff, bit of "fadsniping" there nesterdwarf.

Interesting idea and approach, you just need to watch out for "flash in the pan" trends. Trends that initially do well on social media sites, but don't translate quite so well to a physical product, and inevitably diminish in popularity.

The key is uncovering a niche or idea which demonstrates the potential for longevity, as well as popularity. The last thing you'd want to do is invest time, effort, and potentially - cash, into building a site & product around a fad that disappears as quickly as it came about.

Toilet bowl decals is certainly an interesting niche :withstupi ~ there may even be potential there!

Overall, a solid approach; keeping on top of the latest fads can pay off well if you're savvy enough to recognise a niche or trend with the potential to go viral. Get in early and cash in before the next "big thing" comes along.

Forgot to add; the example you've given above is actually pretty good. Decent facebook like & share stats, a combination of "wackiness" and humour, combined with the popularity of Star Wars - definitely a potential customer base.

    :lmao:

Perhaps - but then again, we live in an age where fully grown men dress up in My Little Pony outfits - anything is possible. Check out some of the "Star Wars Convention" videos on Youtube, Mike. A lot of the attendees look like exactly the types who'd buy toilet bowl decals.

Doubt its going to sell. There have been similar things that went viral, but I have yet to see 1 person using these.

Until next year when they release Episode VII ;) And even old fans got to relieve themselves, more so if you think about it.

Unless the tentacles come to life and go a grabbin', I don't see it as nearly as uncomfortable :)

Thanks, definitely good advice all the way through there. Thanks.
