    Hey guys,

I've been in my whitehat world all week and my mind has been on link-baits. (Basically a piece of content, ect. that people WANT to link to).

Over the years I've worked on dozens of link-baits but what I find to be the real determining factor is the awareness the original content gets. IE. you create an amazing infographic but no one sees it - so you don't get links.

Most linkbaits already require significant traffic to spread well naturally. Since I've recently joined BHW my head has been spinning with new possibilities.

Here's something that I've just come up with as a (possibly new) method for link baiting. Very basic and I'm sure someone here may have thought of it before - but here it is:

    1. Create your link bait - personally I think a really detailed infographic has the best time/value ratio.
    2. Create a page for the infographic that has details below on linking to your site. Ie. give them the link and image code to easily put the graphic on their site with a link to your page (you can link it to any page).
    3. Make sure this page is pretty blank excluding the basic site navigation, the infographic itself and the link code. Anything else (like ads/links) are just creating disruption.
    4. Blast the link out to webmaster in related industries with scrapebox/related program (that your infographic would actually be interesting to).
    5. For your comments to them - just explain the infographic and give a link if interested, ensuring your comment looks professional and personal.

Now here is what you just did:

Using any site, regardless of initial traffic/viewership - you have built a simple piece of content that you can get links from in two different ways.

#1 - The webmaster reads the comment, finds the infographic, loves it and writes a post about it/links to it in a blog post. Even you get a few links this way they are going to be strong, targeted and last a good long time.

#2 - The webmaster publishes the comment and you now have a few links in comments going to your infographic link page. This can both drive traffic straight to your site and create new opportunities for webmasters wishing to link to your infographic.

The key difference is really that you can scale this on your terms without needing to have any prior mass following. It's also draws in some squeaky clean links and can even built beneficial relationships in your industry.

Alright, now my mind can rest haha - had to get that out. Enjoy ;)

I have been meaning to do something like this for awhile but I get unmotived when I think about all the work it would take to get WH links haha. But if you think about it 10-15 links from different blogs that have not been spammed is worth way more then 100+ web 2.0 properties, or so I assume.

Thanks for finally motivating me, ill do something similar tomorrow.

Problem with that method maybe that you do not really want to post an url to thousand of blog because they will get banned by akismet very soon.

That's a nice out-of-the-box method. White hat can be done effectively when done uniquely.
