I read a lot about spamming links could harm your website. I was pondering, if I spam my competitor's website with some bad keywords (and loads of spam links) then would it harm my competitor's website or not?

what you do is cause a rift in a niche, before you know it everyone in the niche is spamming each other sites. Do not think that your competitors are oblivious to NSEO (spamming their sites)

Oh and a bit of advice, people here look down upon NSEO, it is not a talked about subject, unless it is for helping people who have been affected by it.

What is NSEO? My competitor hacked my website in past to redirect all my traffic to their website.

Do a scrapebox blast. Ive never participated in NSEO myself, but if they have already hacked your website then i guess retaliation is due. Blast the shit out of their money site with porn spam links
