Hey guys.

If one of my webpages lets say example.com/blackhatworld was slapped by google because it was spammed to death with low quality backlinks, will it affect my whole site? Will my legit webpages get slapped?

Just thinking about the future.

Usually depends on how authoritative the site is. I've had some sites where certain URL's have gotten penalized but the majority of the site was unaffected.

While it initially may impact only the offending URL it can trigger a manual site quality rating. If the rest of the site appears spammy, or that the link getting spammed with back links was the primary reason for the root domain to exist, then the entire site can get ban-hammered. This can also happen if the site has a record of doing this regularly.

If it's not an authority site, then it's very possible the entire site could get SLAPPED! So best not to try anything sketchy on your money sites.

Google has gotten pretty good at noticing negative seo. You'll most likely rank better because of it these days.

Penguin is URL specific but the negative link juice will flow into the rest of your site causing some infection. Prevent this by deleting the page and allowing it to 404. Ensure your 404 error page doesn't have a site navigation so nowhere for negative juice to flow.
