A 15 y/o's Quest to $400,000

Ahh, yes, another journey on the BHW website. Oh joy! Anyways, I'm susenky13 (or you can just call me Robert) and I've pretty much been reading around on BHW and investigating IM methods since I was 13. I never really put any of it to action, so I figured now is the time.

Firstly: yes, you read the title correctly. $400,000. $400k. Almost a half-million dollars for a 15 y/o. Nonetheless, I don't actually want this tomorrow (although that would be nice :p). My goal is to accumulate a total of $400,000 before January 1st, 2015, my graduating year. The reason for this is that I really want to have a taste of riches before I go out into the work world and want to prove that I CAN be successful before I graduate. More specifically, I want to buy myself a nice sportscar (my uncle used to be a race car driver here in Canada and I've inherited his and my father's passion for cars) and live "the gorgeous life" before I even hit 18. I've always wanted a car like the Audi R8 GT Spyder (which is almost $300k) and I've decided to round up to $400k to factor in cost of ownership and all for a few years.

Anyways, now that I'm done fantasizing. Is this possible? Although I'm extremely judgemental of myself and believe that I can't do anything to succeed, I believe that 2 1/2 years is a huge amount of time, and all it takes is one really good and twisted method to be making $1000/day, at which point my goal gets closer and I'll be laughing my ass off in a beautiful ride. Sure, $400k is no easy feat, especially not for a 15 y/o, and I can't promise that I'll reach it, but I am determined and I do want to succeed. Period.

As of current, I'm playing around with a few methods involving dating sites like POF and trying to add my own little changes. However, a lot can change over the course of 2 years and I'm sure this won't be forever. Anyhow, I'll try to keep you all updated as often as I can. I currently am starting off with $0 budget and want to work my way up from nothing.

Unfortunately, I've still got the obstacle known as 'school' in my life, and, being a Straight-A Principal's List (94% average) student is nothing that I can simply throw away to focus on something like IM, but I hope to find a strong mix and will also keep you updated on that.

Anyways, I'm off to begin my work. This won't be something that I update on a daily basis, but if you want to subscribe to the post, I won't hold you back (although I'm in no way forcing anybody to do so). This may just be another one of the journey's that die out, and simply reinforce the cliche that someone like me, being a teenager and all, can't make money through IM, but hopefully you can all wish me good luck and provide me with the support I need to make the dough.

*And, in the possible case that I'm successful, I hope to provide a source of inspiration for those who want to make money early, as well as those just getting started out in the game, the exact point at which I am now. Now, I'll stop rambling. :)

age doesn't matter I have earned my first 1$ in IM when I was 11 more or less(now im almost 17)..You have more chances to succed in IM than 40 years old guy who want's to start IM from the beginning...You should start from youtube and CPA so you'll get some money to begin and then you can start building micro niche sites :)
 
Nice dude. But I think its gonna take you 2-5 years atleast. Its quite tough to make money in such a amount in a short time.
 
Good luck with it, but I'd suggest you to set up smaller goals at first. This big one is ok but can easily discourage you through your way to 400k :)
 
So, how do you plan to do this? Not exact method, but general outline.
 
You definitely need a plan to get to your goals. Set smaller income goals and decide when and how you're going to scale up, then it's just baby steps from one goal to the next. Key is don't get discouraged, I've fallen on my face countless times, and always get up and rethink, test, and tweak the method. Anyways, good luck!

That's true; nothing wrong with starting out early and tasting success. It's better than saving it until when I have a job and other distractions in my life. At least now I can focus on just IM and not have to worry about bills, mortgages, etc., along with work itself.

And really? Started out when you were 11? That's not bad. I made my first buck at 13 but I've decided to start out with a clean slate again. Anyways, how's your progress come along since then? You a millionaire yet? :P

And I'm going to begin with something like that, try some methods, and then, of course, work my way up.

Yeah, well, it obviously isn't going to come overnight, but I'm prepared to work hard. 2 1/2 years is what I'm prepared for, and, if it doesn't come by then, I can always extend the timeline. No shame in that as long as I've made progress by then. :) Wish me luck, man!

Ahh, thanks for the advice. I guess I'm just looking at what I want, not what I need to get there. Smaller steps are what are going to get me to my overall goal.

In that case, my first goal is just going to be $100 overall. I give myself one month from today. And I know this is a big step up from that, but I also want to aim for $3000 total by December-time. Going to get some nice gifts for Christmas (for other people, I mean). Hopefully I can make it. Once again, thanks for the good luck wishes! :)

Start off with a few BHW methods w/ my own twists, particularly affiliate programs (although there is relatively high competition, I'm determined to beat them out!). As a side thing for consistent income, I'll stick to the beginner CPA+YouTube ideas.

Once I work my way up, I'll look into micro niche sites. I'm not too knowledgeable about the whole idea of monetizing specific niches, and I don't plan on looking into that until I have some base capital to set up domains and the such. You know, just some more assets to play with and try new things. If you have any suggestions for me, though, I'm willing and open! The only way to make myself better is to learn from mistakes, be they mine or yours. :)

Yeah. I don't think I set up enough of a plan. I'm, for now, just looking to experiment with things one-by-one. Either way, my smaller goals, like mentioned above to Vexuz, were $100 in 1 month and $3000 by December. Of course, I will always scale up when I see potential in a method.

And sir, I will do my best to stand up to everything and recover whenever I encounter failure. Always try new twists and see what works, I guess. Thanks for the good luck wishes, man! :)
 
If he's motivated more power to him. He's more knowledgeable than I was at 15 as I started at 15. My goal was based on college graduation of $1,000,000 though. He's got many years to go. If he finds early success he just might continue for years to come.
 
Go for it, do it. That's the best way to learn.
Who knows, you might actually hit your goal in
one year. As you go on you will find better methods, learn more,
become more experienced, might find some good partners.

Glad to see that the doubters exist. And to be honest, $400K is a hefty sum, not to mention that 99% of journeys here fail. There's no reason for you not to expect failure from me. Nonetheless, I'm motivated, and you'll always be the first one I can say "I told you so" to. :P Either way, thank you for the best wishes. I'm now eager to prove you wrong. :)

Motivation is the only reason for action, and action is the only reason for success. Without motivation, success is non-existent. And I guess it really isn't ever too early to start.

And, out of genuine curiosity, did you ever reach that goal? If yes, I have no reason not to believe in myself and my own journey. And even if I encounter failure, I've got all the time in the world to continue outside of my selected timeframe.

And thanks for the input, sir. I'm glad that more and more people have faith in me. :) In all honesty, though, I really want to hear about your story and progress when you first began in IM.

Thanks so much! There's no better way to learn than to experiment, and, if you fail, experiment some more. The more I try new things, the more likely I am to succeed. And although I don't really see myself netting the $400K in one year, it just might happen. If there's people on here making $20K+ per day (havokb8) then there's good reason for me to make at least 2-3% of that, right?

The only way to find out is to try. The more I try, the more I'll succeed, the more people I'll meet, and the more memories I'll have from IM!

Two more years to go. It'll be close. Panda reallyyyy made it difficult for me, but I'm back on my feet with a new venture that I can hopefully get up to the triple digits per year very quickly and then mid triples by my final year and then to reach the goal a sale of my site. At least, that's the thought process. I may be more interested in keeping it and continuing to grow it than selling it just to say goal reached.

Firstly, best of luck in making it, man. The feeling when you meet it will probably be the greatest rush and I can only imagine how good that'll be. Keep me updated on your progress. I really want to see it turn out.

Secondly, if there's anything I've learned about IM to date, it's that you won't be successful if you don't base it around something you like. I'm assuming your site has something to do with something you like or enjoy. If you really see potential even once you've reached your goal, let it grow. You could be really surprised as to how it turns out.

And finally, regarding your goal itself. You said you began at 15, correct? And that you aimed for $1M by the end of college? Everyone obviously does college at a different pace, so I'm curious as to how long it would've been from the start to finish of your goal. Give or take 6-8 years? Because $1M by then is extremely great in my opinion. How much did you have by your first year? Was it a slow start or did you begin to make $100/day at that time already?

And finally x2, how did you cope with IM and managing school at the same time?

Sorry for the questions, but others' success and similarities to me really motivate me to try harder in my own endeavours.

I'm definitely doing something I like right now. Way more enjoyable than my SEO past. Then again, I was more of a white-ish hatter so SEO was a time consuming process. Now I'm doing something where it's more just managing and advertising; however, it's different than SEO because I can advertise on a forum or chat and if I get that one or two promoter it more than pays for my entire day of work and more likely an entire week or more.

Began at 15 just wanting to make a few bucks online and ended up doing a few dollars per day better than I had needed so instead of using the money to buy a game membership I had wanted I just kept working at it to improve it. I had no real goal until I entered college which is when I set it at $1,000,000, about 10x total online income at that point. Course, I wasn't expecting Google Panda to get in the way a few months later and disrupt that. Graduating at 22 so about 8 years in total will be the end of the goal I set. It was a slow start, but I kept growing it over time.

IM and managing school isn't too terribly difficult. You do need to work on autopilot techniques though. You can make some quick money doing things like YouTube + CPA/PPD, but I wouldn't consider that long term autopilot nor reliable. I would just do it in my free time. I had sports practices year round, I'd say I was fairly popular and busy too. When I got home, I'd enjoy doing this instead of watching tv though. I was fortunate enough to be really good with school and at a school with an absurd amount of study halls (due to a college prep style scheduling).
 
Good luck man, but like others are saying, start off with smaller goals. I'm no internet marketing expert, but $400,000 is a long stretched goal for starters.
 
It's Great to aim for higher goals, this reminds me of a few lines from Robert Frost's peom:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
So you're already on the less travelled path (IM itself is a less travelled path :P), but be warned in advance that those paths are less travelled for a reason - it's not for the faint hearted !!

And needless to say you'll face numerous difficulties and you'll find many "pseudo-gurus" telling you that your goals are impossible,
just remember: impossible is not a fact but an opinion, opinion of those who couldn't do it themselves
And finally do maintain a balance between your work life and personal life, all work and no play makes jack a fuckin retard boy
