Hello everyone,

It?s a known fact that the first 20 minutes of the day are highly correlated with your mood during the day. If you wake up and sit on Facebook, you?ll probably have an unproductive, frustrating day. If you wake up, relax, plan your day, and then start working; you?ll probably have a wonderful, productive day.

When you successfully take the first step, you?ll get energized and motivated to do the rest. It?s the same with your day. So in this post, I?ll talk about starting a good day, which should keep you motivated and energized for the rest of your day:

1- Wake up early
It?s the very first step. By waking up early, you know that you?ve started a good day. The feeling of waking up early is just awesome.
Also, there?s usually no noise, no worries and no distractions in the early hours of the day. So make sure you are getting up early enough every day.

2- Make a good-morning routine
It?s another thing that I do. I?ve made a routine for each morning. It helps me to stay motivated, to know where I?m going, to stay relaxed and clear-minded.

Here is what I do at the minute I wake up:

  • Read goals
  • Write down what I?m currently working on and why
  • Plan the day (to-do list)

3- Write down what you are currently working on, and why

I don?t know about you. But I definitely have a problem with persistence. This was one of the best things I?ve done to stay clear, to know where I?m currently heading.
I simply take a paper, and then I write down 2-3 lines describing what I?m currently working on and why (in short). For example:
I?m currently working on tweaking Example.com to make it better as I want to have a better conversion rate for people subscribing to my newsletter. After tweaking it, I?ll focus on Example2.com and make money with it.
It?s as simple as that. Try it. It?ll make things more obvious.

4- Finish the first task
It?s extremely important. Checking your Facebook or Email should NOT be the first thing you do in the morning. You must start with the first task of your schedule ? or just do something useful if you hate schedules.
If you start your day by checking your Facebook, watching TV or w/e; you?ll end up procrastinating and feeling frustrated. At least that?s what happens with me.

The most important thing above all, is to wake up with a gratitude feeling, with a super positive feeling.

Feel the power, the motivation.. it?ll help you for the rest of your day.

Have Make a wonderful day!

The feeling of waking up early is just awesome.
Actually if I wake up early I feel like absolute hell all day.

The part about doing something productive right after waking up is fine. But *nothing's* going to happen if I get jarred up at some godawful hour.

great post, IM & SEO is a long term game and because there is not immediate result for your today's actions it doesn't feel so bad if you don't work on your plan today... without a plan and day-by-day execution it's really hard to reach the goal.

To wake up fresh, you need to sleep early. Of course you will feel f##d'ed up, if you sleep at 4 am and try to wake up by 6 am. :p

Does it really matter when you wake up if you're doing IM? lol

Hopefully this works.. i wake up everyday and whenever i type f on my browser, facebook comes up first instead of some freelance job searches so its a really big problem.

I think checking email is a nice routine as well, especially if you work for a company.

Normally I would exit this thread and find a thread that teaches money making methods. However, lately I realized that this is 10 times more important than ever before learning any methods. My dad always told me, wake up early in the morning. I thought "pffft whatever". He used to wake up at like 8:30, and now he wakes. up at 5 am- 6 am. It's amazing how much shit he gets done with his business now, more than i've ever seen before. Very good advice, thank you and I hope people understand this before spending hours trying to learn different methods and stuff.
.

Very nice advice. Thats my biggest problem now - I feel very frustrated and angry at myself for procrastinating and failing to do my tasks for the day which leads ofcourse to failing at moving towards my biggest goals. I think the routine part is the most important and most difficult

Great tips WizIMS!

A morning success ritual is extremely important.

I keep a list of motivational videos that I've collected on youtube and a big bottle of water.

Every morning, I wake up, turn on a random motivational video, chug down my water to rehydrate and concentrate on deep breathing.

After that, I finish the first item on my to-do list (made the previous night) and then I go have breakfast.

Our body is detoxifying until we break the fast (breakfast), so I like to get an extra hour of detoxification each morning (365 days = 365 extra hours of detoxification per year.. in other words, pretty much equivalent to a 15 day fast, except less risky)

I'm going to include some of your tips into my own morning success ritual and make it even more powerful. Thanks for sharing it!

1- Wake up early
So friggin true. I hate waking up early, but if I don't, I am going to spend the whole day doing nothing, that's for sure.
You do not have to wake up at 5 am, but atleast at 9 am you should be awake.

Love your posts Wizims & your site is a great productivity booster !

sometimes planning is not always go the way you decide, guess more than planning working according to the situation goes more preferable for me!

My productivity is actually way better at night.
During day/afternoon, there are all these people coming in and out of the house, noise of the cars, noise of the construction sites nearby and all these people messaging you and keeping you unfocused.
At night it's only you and your computer, nothing to distract you (if you keep away from your Facebook/porn site).

good post, definitely helpful, it can be difficult to stay up with all of this stuff when working from home

Waking up early is the first step, and one of the hardest :D But seriously, I find that i'm more productive in the morning; way less distractions
