95%+ World Job Less? Future Technological Advancement Good For Us?

Hello BHW,

I was thinking how machines are replacing humans at such a great rate. Machines cost less in long run, less error than humans, can work 24 hours a day and are lot faster than us.
It's just a matter of time when AI (Artificial intelligence) will be made to replace most majority of the jobs. I don't think once AI is made we will need humans for hacking, software creation, backlinks creation, production of products, discovering new ideas, discovering new theory, teaching at school etc. I can't even imagine a thing that AI would not be able to do.
I am sure that once AI is made, Within just few years majority of world will go job less. I can't even imagine how humans will even survive without jobs but I am also happy inside that we created something a lot better than us and is replacing jobs and reducing production cost for company owners.

It's just a matter of time that within next few years government will ask to increase min. wage and big company will look for advance solution to replace most of humans at shops for making and serving food etc.

I think this time is most precious time to make money because AI is not made yet and we have the full power to get rich. Our future generation (your grand kids etc.) will be able to thank you for leaving some assets that will help them to survive without working.

What are your thoughts about this? It will be really amazing to discuss this topic

UPDATE: If we think we will use our old fashion methods that our ancestors used. Get aggressive and try to destroy AI or declare a war at them. We will loose for sure.
AI will be a lot smarter than us and can destroy humans within few seconds. I don't think someone can out smart AI.

You (talking in general, not personally) fail to understand that your job does not exist so that you can get money. Your job exists to satisfy a consumer needs. Consumer needs are never ending. If a set of said needs can get satisfied cheaply, that means new needs will pop up that will require satisfaction (since now I have more resources available). That's the history of humanity and it's not going to change ever.

In other words, jobs will get lost, and that will be fantastic, awesome, great - because it will mean that the global wealth will have increased substantially. And when wealth goes up, more needs come up that require saisfaction and new jobs pop up to satisfy the demand.

In these books, Penrose PROVES that within the constraints of modern physics and technology, it is impossible to completely replicate human intelligence, or any form of true consciousness. Penrose's reasoning is impeccable and scientifically accurate. However, I do not believe we will NEVER be able to create artificial consciousness. "The standard model" is far from being complete and we are still oblivious to more than 70% of the observable Universe. Maybe in the future, we may finally succeed in formulating a complete physical description of the Universe, which indeed would contain an explanation to consciousness.

So to answer the question, NO. AI and human intelligence are not the same and can never be the same, given the current physical theories. The limiting factor is not the inability to develop an algorithm, but physics itself.

While you can easily retort by saying that's the same as saying we will create consciousness in the distant future, it is not the same. Simulation of consciousness is independent of computability, that is to say not matter how complex your algorithm is, it will not work to the same degree as a human brain. It is often argued that the brain is just executing a very complex algorithm. Penrose debunks that by proving brain functions non algorithmically, provided that what we mean by algorithm is not tantamount to change.

I'm sorry for being too nerdy, I was very curious about the direction AI is taking some years back so I have done a lot of reading on it.

So what I am saying is, humans will ALWAYS find a job, it doesn't really matter how good AI gets at replicating humans, there is always going to be an area where humans outscore AI

This is an interesting topic I've been thinking about myself. Since we are at the beginning of the AI era it's hard to guess what's going to happen, but here's my opinion on it. I think that, in a distant future, we will be able to satisfy most of our needs with AI. They could be producing food, cars, buildings, clothes, and anything else we need to survive and live. We will still need to operate and control AI, and probably do some jobs that AI won't be able, but let's say they will complete 80% of our needs. For this to happen we will have to solve over population problem with some measures, since the Earth is being over populated even now, can you imagine what would happen if AI would do everything for us. Only thing we would have to do is live and reproduce. I think if this ever happens we would point all of our greatest minds and techs into space exploration and colonisation. That seems to be our nature, through history we can see that pattern. We can never satisfy with what we have, we always stream for more. At first we were hunting and gathering the food. After that we learned to grow it ourself and starter building cities. After we settled and made cities and countries, laws and rules, we started exploring. Since then we are doing it all the time, constantly improving our technology, exploring the deep oceans now that we explored their surface and all the land, we are going under the surface. We went for the sky aswell, since there is nothing on land to explore anymore. So basically what I'm thinking, if ever AI get to replace most of our jobs we will become an intergalactic species. I know this is a bit too sci-fi opinion, but what can we do except for guessing.
