8.9 Earthquake in Japan

It's really depressing because I have family in Japan. It's hard to read about it in a newscast and actually understand the level of destruction that this is causing... even Tokyo, which is very EQ resistant, is left in the dark right now. I feel very bad for American tourists as March is a festival season that draws many foreigners. I just pray that these people will be able to rebuild their lives!

How could I monetize this?

lol jk :P it sucks this is happening to our planet/people. -_-

Register japantsunamifund dot org and set up a fund to help victims. Take 5% to cover operations.

Maybe members of bhw could use their evil schemes for the greater good.

My condoleances and sympathy to the people there, will send out my prayers for them.....very sad

I hope no one from bhw has family living there! and if they do, i hope everyone's safe. Such a tragic day :(

My thoughts and prayers go to the people of Japan. CNN has been showing numerous videos and the devastation is unbelievable! I wish them a speedy recovery.

I had no idea this had happened until my buddy told me about it. Don't get me wrong, the worst part is the people who've lost their homes and lost lives. But some people in Japan have been sitting in traffic for hours and hours since traffic is at a complete standstill.

It's already bad enough, but it can be a lot worse unfortunately:

Japan has 54 nuclear reactors which provide some 30% of the country's electricity!

Terrible to see on the news huge boats/houses being swept along.

I can't even begin to imagine the devastation this has caused the aftermath for this will run on for a long time.

Planet earth sucks sometimes.

thoughts and prayers to everyone in japan i also herd the tsunami also hit hawaii

The situation at Fukushima seems to be a lot more serious than they were letting on earlier. There was a lot of things that went wrong in the shutdown process and the pressure of one of the reactors is still rising despite the battery-backup cooling system (which is malfunctioning atm and almost out of battery power). Basically, if they don't fix the problem within the next few hours, it'll be Chernobyl 2.0. Everyone in Japan is devastated right now, but aside the massive loss of life and those who still can't get in touch with their loved ones, everyone is looking at Fukushima wondering if the EQ is only going to be one of the disasters that strike today.
