8.9 Earthquake in Japan

Just saw the pictures, looked scary. No news on any casualties yet- my prayers goes to these people too.

OP you beat me to it. I was just getting ready to start a similar thread.

I've been watching the news on TV and they're showing the tsunami that hit afterward. The force of mother nature is something fierce. That video shows a lot of destruction; cars, boats and buildings being swept away.

I hope our brothers and sisters in Japan are safe and I will say a prayer for them.

I'm in California and I think we're next. We haven't had a big one in a while.

It's scary. even with the state of the art technology until now earthquake can't be predicted.

It's in disastars like this we realise how dear life and living is...

Japan was struck by a 8.9 earthquake off the northeastern coast of the island on Friday afternoon about 3PM local time....I am praying for them...

Floods in Australia. Big earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand. Now this! I'm not saying 2012.. But something is happening.

True. I don't believe in 2012. But shit is just getting crazy lately.

They reckon you should watch out for 28th March as apparently that's when there's going to be a "super moon."

I'm no scientist but as I understand it, this means that the moon will be orbiting at its closest to the earth and I guess the force it exerts will be greater. In theory, this may affect tides but I'm unclear about anything else.

Oh no...I am living in Hong Kong. Not too far away from Japan...

I read a newspaper a few days ago saying that the moon will be at its closest distance to our earth in this month. An expert said in the news report that in 2004 when the South East Asia earthquake happened causing more 300K people died, the moon was also in its closest distance to us.

He was speculating in the news paper that there would be big earthquake in the coming few days...

RIP to all those who lost their lives.

That wave water with boats, trucks, cars, and moving piles of burning oil was pretty surreal to watch. And you thought gas and food was already expensive? You haven't seen anything yet.

There are warnings for WA, OR and CA as well. HI will get it soon, it's spring break lots of families in HI hope they can get to higher ground. Many are without cars?

our place is in the alert level two for potential tsunami attack, we may get affected by what happened to Japan. Im so afraid mates :(

Damn! Right now watching the videos on TV. Tears rolled out :( Hope all my sisters and brothers from another mother are safe. RIP to all who lost their life. :(
