Can anyone explain this to me? I am getting 72% 'Direct Traffic' and only 12% Organic.. I know sometimes mobile visits are credited as Direct Traffic but that seems weirdly disproportionate..

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

what type of advertising are you doing? If its offline advertising that could explain the direct traffic.

may be that 72% are returning visitors.. remember that firefox saves history and when user types any word that matches pages that user recently visited, it comes in suggestions and user may select it and hit enter... but 72% is bit awkward.

That's the weird thing, no advertising, just SEO.. I'm only on page 3 as well..

Is there any country (other that US or targeted) with a lot of hits?
Once in a while one of my blogs receive like a thousand hits per day from China,
Ukraine or Russia and it's usually direct traffic.

So how you are advertising your website?

Direct traffic means mostly visitors enter the url and visit the website directly, so may be you are advertising in places, where visitors see your website, but cannot click them.

Really? What to slow it down you mean? Never heard of this, you mean a competitor might be trying to do this?

This may very well have to do with the Hummingbird update, or the phasing out of keyword data ("not provided"). I am seeing the same thing. I believe this data is skewed.

Really? That's interesting, I thought it seemed a but unlikely. Thanks.
