$7000 Net Off eBay Last Month, Heres How...

Actually, I never deal with customs at all.........I hae established relationships with direct manufacturers for alot of these items, Im not selling any more like I used to due to the demands elswhere in my organization but not once did I have to pay a customs fee, I always order as sales samples anyway ;)

I thought getting shipments as samples or gifts from overseas could get you into deep water if you're doing it on a consistent basis to avoid custom fees.

I wonder if this "order as samples" deal would work here in the UK. Have you guys consistenly done it?

Hmm well in regards to the US. I read somewhere that if you consistently are receiving "sample orders" from suppliers like every week it could get you in trouble with customs. Might be the same for UK.

But I think Port would probably clear this one up as he probably has more experience with it than I do.

Probably could if that was the express reason for doing it, I have a built an advantage because I actually have an importer of record number and a surety bond so Im set up as an import/export dealer when I get product as sales samples they typically are that to get a person/business to buy in bulk. For instance I have a new watch phone thats in I have about 400 of those as sales samples. Setting your business up correctly precludes you from worrying about certaint things. I advise all of you to setup all your activities as a legitimate business, it will give you hefty tax deductions and several other perks.

Good post, thank you for clearing that up.

Thanks Portillo and Smitty, that makes it a bit clear.

When they ship, do you have it always shipped to the same location?

Man, there are so many sources selling ipods and other electronics on there it's crazy!

How many sources did you go through before you felt you had the right one? Also, I saw a few ipod replicas for sale on eBay and the pics showed what looked like actual ipods, including ipod lettering and the plastic case the real one comes in. Do your come packaged the same?

My eBay account has a great feedback ratio from when I was selling on there a couple years ago, so I know I could jump back in to things quickly.

Smitty,

I've been doing the exact same thing for the past couple of months. PM if you are interested in doing a partnership.

I've been making some good money with ebay.

BTW, how are you saving on your ebay listings fees? Relistings are killing my margins...

LOL nice work this shit is on fire, your probably getting 20 pms a day hahahhaa

Most of the iPod replicas have scary resemblance to the real thing. Most people can't tell the difference of course you have to tell them in the auction and title that they aren't the real deal. If you don't you'll be lining yourself up for trouble down the road.

I've always had them shipped to the same location yes, but I'm not doing it in the huge scale that some are so it may be different for you.

Guys keep in mind I'm no guru at this technique, not in the least. These are my first few months doing this sort of thing, so if I can do it so can you all.

I'm sure they're people on this forum doing multiple times what I'm doing with this very technique.

I'll occasionally do dutch auctions with BIN which saves me money. I do sometimes go against some TOS in my ways of getting some of the buyers but we will just leave it at that. That also eliminates some of the listing fees completely.

Thanks for the reply. I have no problem "working" a little to make some money, especially when it comes to eBay. I'm sure you could market it locally too if you really wanted too (flea markets, etc), and of course not just ipods.

Now you're thinkin! Good stuff boo.

I signed up with Alibaba a while ago but never commited because all I heard was 'scam'. Guess I might give it a shot now, was going to try to hit the bluetooth market.

FYI if you do signup don't do it under your main email, because it will get BLOWN UP. :o

Anyone that has a line on distribution or can wholesale me and/or wants to partner up PM me. I have good ebay standing with accounts 5-10 years old with 5K to 30K feedbacks at no less than 99%+

do u have to pay any import duties or customs tax? or is that only if customs intercept it?

As for warranty issues, how about offering an extended warranty to the buyers. Kinda like self insuring the product, $15 or $20 for 3 year warranty.
I bet most people will lose them in that time and if they are well made not too many will come back

Hell of an idea, since this charge will most likely cover your costs of a replacement anyways, so no real loss to you!
