As said before DO NOT BLAST - look for high PR and Alexa rank Domains and get backlinks from them, due to spammed out domains with a ton of outgoing backlinks may not tranfrer any PR at all or even have a negative impact on your site. Search for website that do not have many outgoing links but high PR at least 3 and alexa no higher than 200k.

If your purpose is increasing traffic then use social bookmarking sites, these will better help. But also want to better SERP, PR then should think about backlinks. You should keep patient and do not go for lots of backlinks suddenly, while only few links each day or week may offer better result.

As already noted, blasting is not really a good idea. First figure out what the max number of links you think you can comfortably do on a regular basis. Then start out at 20-25% of that for a couple of weeks and then gradually work your way up to your max over a period of 3 months or so.
Also you need to make sure you give yourself a good mix of link types, do not rely on all one type.
