Thank you so much t0mmy. I hope all SEO gurus will keep expanding this topic, to keep ourselves (newbies) updated. I'm currently with a Wordpress blog that I want to monetize to fund my college education, but I'm having no success in it. Hope this tips will help me, like many others.

It is not a typical guru post but some common sense and experience that are a 1000's time more useful and educative than any shit out there.

It's what we need more of man, I hear ya when I first came here there was a lot more of these kind of threads.. with the growth of the forum a lot of the guys that used to post those seem to have vanished, there are still some guys banging out solid gems of info here though.
 
shall we use PPC ? Someone told me that it's not good to use PPC if one want to earn through adsense.

Google Adsense has no problem with PPC traffic, either through adwords or even facebook social ads. As long as there are no any suspicious clicks on your ads, you should be fine. I stand to be corrected.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong.. That's called arbitrage and google has been known to ban your Adsense account for it.. Buying Adwords to send to your mfa site.. No dice.

If we use the description of a PPC advertiser, it certainly will contain high competitive keyword(s) which are not so easy to rank in first page. And does it also mean that we have to use the same keyword contained in the PPC ad description in our post? By doing so, we are now targeting same high competitive keyword the PPC advertiser is paying for.
Do we really stand a chance to rank for that keyword?

Or is the idea just to use the description and then substitute the keyword(s) with ours?

Not really.. they'll be the same competition as the ones you are targeting yourself with SEO but he's targeting with ads - Google your own keywords and check the ads.. you can bet that copy has been optimized to perfection if you see it running a few days in a row.

Unfortunately i dont have any ideas to add however i do have a few questions for you regarding #6 that if you answer will most likely help some other people out too. This would mean i contributed atleast a little bit lol.

Anyway here is the scenario and quesitons...

Lets say i have a website that talks about different snowboards , different brands, freestyle boards, mountain boards etc etc.

I do my research and realize that a long tail keyword "What is the best snowboard for freestyle riding" gets searched 100 times a month. Now one of my pages on the site already talks about freestyle boards so i search long tail keyword in google and find that this long tail keyword is easy to rank and my website is already ranking #10 for it but the page is clearly not optimized for this long tail keyword its going after a much bigger word freestyle snowboards.

QUESTIONS

Would it be better to edit the existing page that is already ranking #10 so that it is better optimized for this word (maybe mention long tail keyword 2-3 times on this existing page...) ORRRRRRRR


Would it be better to write an article on this long tail keyword? If we write an article should make the title of the article "What is the best snowboard for freestyle riding?" or should we name the article Best Snowboard for Freestyle Riding ?


Also when we write an article would it be a wise decision to link to existing page that talks about freestyle snowboards? Maybe say something along the lines... There are many snowboards out there that are good for free style snowboarding (for a complete list of free style snowboards click here) but for the purpose of this article we will only go over the top 3 rates free style snowboards yada yada yada...Would the link benefit our SEO at all or there is really not point of linking to your own site?


PS i dont have a snowboarding site this is just a made up scenerio. ...
 
#6 is worth its weight in gold! So simple yet the numbers don't lie....5200 searches a month could mean a couple extra thousand dollars a month in new business let alone repeat customers.

What type of links do you recommend throwing at something like this for low comp long tails that someone targets in articles on their sites blog? Also recommend throwing some social signals at them? Anything else you recommend for articles posted on your blog like this?

Everyone is on the long tail keyword bandwagon these days but most will skip over a keyword that has a low search volume of 20 searches.. they think it isn?t worth going after but I will tell you it is! The key is to target one every single day.. most people skip them over so the competition is low.. you can often rank with just good on site optimization - low laying fruit, shit fruit laying on the ground ready to pick up.

I make sure the long tail is used in the title, in the first part of the content and a couple more times in the content. IMG ALT tag and H2 tag to round it off.. since you are going this daily make sure to interlink correctly.

Being consistent comes into play after some time.. But imagine if you targeted a kw daily that ?only? has a monthly search volume of 20.. After 1 year you would be targeting about 260 keywords if you did it Mon - Fri every week.. 20 x 260 = 5,200 VERY TARGETED searches a month.. If your on site optimization is up to scratch done properly you will be ranking on top for all of these.

This type of traffic will do better than more general keywords because these very low volume long tails are extremely targetted! When you think of the big picture this is such an easy thing to take action on.. If you can?t afford to outsource the article daily just write it first thing in the morning.. get up 15 min early to get it done.. Just do it! This is such an easy way to increase your traffic but not with just any traffic.. this is very targeted. Once you start to make money increase to 3-5 of these low search volume long tails. Most people just see the big search volume and don?t want to put the effort into the low volume stuff.. I?ll clean house with that stuff all day long.

Remember all of these can be scaled up with some employees then you can really get cooking.. but as always don't half ass those employees!
