6 Useful Dropshipping Tips for Beginners:

I know how it feels when you first starting your online business, It is always a bit scary. But the truth is that drop-shipping for an internet business is a lot less risky than the same for any land business.

However this does not mean that you can sleep peacefully on your first day at work. You have to work hard, most of which includes concentrated research on your product and wholesalers and overseeing the whole thing.

    1. Most important factor you must decide is what to sell. There are an incredible number of products worldwide that have great demands. But you can sell only that product which appeals to you. Somewhere in the middle of your passion and the world's needs lies your perfect product. Choose wisely. This is when research comes in.

Say you enjoy reading about candles a lot but have never made them. Then probably making candles is not a good option, you should stick to doing something that you can do, like selling fitness equipments.

    2. Search for a reliable cheap drop ship supplier. There are many drop ship agents, so it is advisable consult a drop ship review site to find out which supplier offers the best deal.
Review sites are very important because they also contain names of gem suppliers, who offer you better deals than the featured drop shippers. Try to go for a drop shipper that provides the service of warehousing and free shipping.

    3. Pay attention to the reputation of the drop shipper, how long he has been in business, what his products are like. You also have to find out how soon a drop shipper can deliver products to specific locations, this knowledge is integral to the health of your business.

    4. Once you know that, you can set up your site, your system and the customer expectation accordingly. Try to go for drop shipper who does not get stuck on minimum orders. A reliable drop shipper will never request you to order a minimum of 100 units! Although some really good drop shipper will have such terms and condition, very often I found out you can negotiate for a better deal if they are genuinely good.

    5. It is always better to be honest. So if you are using a drop shipper, inform your customers you are doing so. They should know that their products will be shipped directly to them from the suppliers.

    6. Lastly never let go of your customers on the good faith of drop-shippers. Always maintain connection with them. If the product is likely to arrive a little late, always inform them. This is how you build goodwill. I could not stress how powerful this is.

Keep these few tips in mind while selecting the services of a drop shipper.

    All The Best!

    Hey

    Thank you for that!

I tried the DS a few years ago and, to be honest with you, most of them were too expensive to make real money.

Based in Europe, my idea was to make business in the US market without having to ship overseas.

However, whatever item I found, I searched for it on eBay and it was selling for the same price or, even less, than most drop-shippers.

However, what I did sometimes is I asked sellers I was in relation with if they can dropship for me. Most of them are happy to do so once you establish a healthy relationship with them.

    Cheers

Your welcome :) and goodluck in Drop shipping

Yes its very expensive if you are just selling a range of products especially on eBay because there is soo much competition on eBay from sellers from China, I suggest you look for a few niche items and if you find a good one you can make a lot of bucks ( I made £200+ a day and was only working for lyk 2 hours) but sadly after 3 days ebay decided to end my listing :/

    - Some dropshippers from China and Hong kong sell their items on eBay as well as their website - so they usually don't leave much profit for us guys :/

    - If you really want to earn money from dropshipping from Chinese and other similar websites you should start your own website and then you won't have much competition - so its much easier for you to sell products :) (this is what I have started doing )

    - One more TIP for everyone who is dropshipping, make sure to have more then 1 supplier for the item you are dropshipping as a backup...if one of your drop shipper runs out of items :)

Thanks for the +5 rep...I still don't understand what they are for though lol

Yeah, that the problem with the Chinese. They are spamming eBay like no tomorrow.

I used to buy some products from them then sell them on eBay (sometimes even before reception) for a nice mark-up. In my good days (2004), I managed to sell some products x8 times their purchase price.

Then suddenly, the same Chinese decide to hunt on eBay. They post thousands "buy it now" at minimal price. The market is just killed.

I am not active on eBay at this point in time but I am still looking.

its getting very hard to dropship on eBay unless you find a good dropshipper or a good niche products that not many people are selling...its better to just open your own website and start selling the only problem with that is the traffic :/ you will never get as many buyers as eBay

Agreed. That's why I am no longer involved in eBay. I used to be very active there, but now I have 0 auctions there.

As you said, it's very difficult to find dropshippers because even factories and producers are going direct to eBay to sell their items to the end user.

There is less and less place for middlemen.

Yepp... Ebay didn't give us good results either. Even though we were working directly with one of their own marketing representatives.

What I did a couple of years ago was the following:

    - Buy items from the high street (like on sales)
    - Sell them on eBay

On 10 items, I would make money with 7 and lose money on 3 (selling for loss because the auction does go well).

But it doesn't worth the hassle. It takes hours of shopping, hours to take photos and describe items, hours to deal with auctions, questions and then shipping.

The actual revenue after paypal fees, ebay fees, various losses... was less than 20%

So you investe 1000 Euros, you work 50 hours, you have 1200 Euros in hand. It works anytime but you can't make a living from that. If you want to make a decent monthly revenue, you need to work more hours than the number of hours available in a month.
