6 Sites Sanboxed/Killed Since Using....

There are dozens of factors to consider re. the impact of any massive link building campaign (ScrapeBox, XRumer, etc). Domain age, existing # of backlinks, current public PR, # of links created in your SB run, did you ping your links, etc.

I've had sites ranked on page one with a healthy amount of varied backlinks, then ran SB for <1000 comments and the ranking vanished (but I do SEO for plenty of sites to know the 'Google Dance' is part of the game). The rankings were gone for 6 weeks which is abnormally long, then they came back 2 positions higher and still remain.

for me I would never use any kind of backlinking except directory submission in initial stages of a domain as google is now analysing domain activity using chrome, analytics, webmaster tools and of course google itself.

once a domain starts getting steady traffic its the best time to start backlinking, this process also gives us to know for what kw's google is naturally ranking us and build on that instead of just relying on inacurrate kw data from google.

things i noticed which made me come to this conclusion

after I installed analytics on one of my website it started getting much more google traffic (was already getting some traffic from non google sources mainly). So, google is looking at analytics data for checking activity on a domain.

i started getting more traffic from kw's I never optimised for and would never show in any kw research tool. So i let google tell me initially for what kws it likes my site for and then optimise.

just my 2 cents

regards

This is just anecdotal evidence but I've noticed I can hammer a site with SB in niches that have a lot of activity. On other niches that have low activity I've done the same thing and ranked first page only to have the sites bounce out of first page, back in, back out, and then disappear.

Just my observations, nothing scientific.

I can see dozens of black hat sites dropping in rankings as we speak. Today is a back day for black hat sites

Another thread like this. Geeez.

Ok everyone, think about this. Yes, your site can "dance" around while you are in the process of building your links. Your rank can do some crazy things.

HOWEVER, if you could get sandboxed, deindexed, knocked down in the rankings from some Scrapebox links, then I would build about 10k links to my competitor sites and take over the whole front page. Hell, that's all everyone would be doing here. Your rank would be determined by whoever had the least shit links and not the most quality links.

The only way your going to get shit canned by Google is if you put some blackhat code in your site, cloaking, etc.. It's on-page tactics that get you in trouble.

So always think of the issue in reverse if ever in doubt. If Google penalized you for backlinks, there would be a shit storm. The worst that can happen is that you just don't get credit for the link.

Also, there are a ton of threads on how to get new sites indexed and ranked quickly.

These type of sandbox threads just won't go away.

Sandboxing doesn't exist. Sites usually disappear because of a large SERP boost or SERP decline.

Sandboxing is only a term for major SERP decline. Trust me, I xrumer'd the hell out of sites and they disappear and reappear; usually with higher SERP standings.

Just wait a few weeks and they will show up. Trust me.

Use this to track your standings:

If your pagerank is 2 or lower, you will get sandboxed for a few days or weeks. But you will come back, usually higher than before. Trust me on this.

I read somewhere that you don't ping your links and let G naturally find them for you. It's supposed to decrease your risk. Dunno if it's true though.

axelian - nice tool that youve included in your post. not strictly accurate, but nonethess, still useful for a quick overview of serps against your targeted keywords

bobbylove321,

I usually trust your statements, especially concerning Scrapebox, but I'm having doubts on this one.

First, why do you think that this is related to Google Instant? Even if Google is penalizing blog comment spam as of now, it has nothing to do with Google Instant. They might have introduced both "features" at the same time though.

Second, as already stated by timmytim, it would make it just to easy to get your competition blacklisted. I don't think Google wants the blog spam (or any spam) to increase by a couple of 100% because everyone is trying to shoot his competitors.

Regards,
Steve

This is why I said it's speculation, however, I have noticed that some of my sites simply disappeared ever since I used scrapebox on them (some a few years old), and they all happened simultaneously with the introduction of Google Instant.

So I'm assuming that it has something to do with the new feature that Google has, and that they can now find what sites are doing for backlinks.

They find your latest links, and compare it to the other sites in your niche, as well as see how many outbound links are on those backlink pages, and if there's many, they get penalized with spam.

Also, a fellow marketer build 100k+ posted scrapebox links to a competitor who has been on the first page for 3 years, and he got removed within 2 days.

This is why I'm saying Google most likely changed their algorithm, so now any site can get deindexed or sandboxed, of course, the exceptions are Google's own Fortune 500 company friends.

Blaming Scrapebox for your sites performance in Google is like blaming a hammer for building a shitty house.

This is true, but again consider Google's patent technology for "latest backlinks" which sees how many outbound links are on a page for your most recent backlinks, and penalizes you for that if they come from spam sites.

Here's the actual info from Google's Patent:

"Spamming Score

Embodiments of the present invention can also be used for many other purposes. For example, the present invention can be used to actively identify and penalize documents and their associates that employ spamming techniques. The spamming (or negative quality) score can be obtained in the following steps. 1) Obtain general-purpose quality scores and accompanying displacements for a spring network corresponding to a linked database by following the procedure described above. 2) Set the strength of inter-nodal springs according to Eq. (4) based on the displacements of the last step. 3) Identify a set of well-known spamming sites, selecting the corresponding nodes as the reference nodes, and set their displacements to predetermined values. 4) Obtain the displacements of the rest of the nodes without further adjustment of the strength of inter-nodal springs."

Code:
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/PTO/search-bool.html&r=14&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PTXT&s1=google&OS=google&RS=google

So the other scrapebox uses are good, but I believe the commenting on wordpress or other heavily saturated link pages is dead.

Again, this is my speculation based on my actual websites, a fellow marketer removing sites competing for his keywords, and Google's Patent.

This may explain why google doesn't care about my hubpages with 10k links.....

Google seems to be discounting the backlinks from spammy pages.

You can't harm your competition by building spammy links for them, the links will just be discounted.

The Black hat sites which were ranking well have fallen 10+ spots in rankings since yesterday, they were not penalized per se, just that the spammy links were discounted which resulted in the fall in SERPS

Bullshit thread. If you don't know how to spam them go home and play with your mom instead of blaming all the tools.

Google is my FUC.KING BITCH! He is licking my ass because I'm using SB to spam the hell of the webs

Hi there, the man here.

Not going to get anybody riled up here. Just dropped by to say, "backlinking is dead". Stop wasting your time spamming blogs man. Instant and other algo. changes have killed all the benefit of backlinking. Pinging, FB, Twitter, and anything social is more effective than backlinking these days. You guys are behind the times. You bad boys/gals should know better. You are the type that ain't going to heaven so show some spine man! You are ashaming BH culture.

What you say is pure speculation. Or you are suggesting that all big companies that will try to create new authority websites will have one option now, social bookmarks.

Backlinks are as valid as ever. The weights might change but you can NOT really say that everything has changed unless you have valid information which please do share with us.

Dunno if it's a joke or not ?

Once you understand bad neighborhoods, you will understand that link spamming via blog comments is not dead - but nobody on this board seems to be coughing up a whole lot of information on that topic, and for a good reason that I learned the hard way.

You will see the proliferation of bad neighborhoods rapidly escalating. Anyone that says a platform of link building is dead (like blog comments) is working with only half of the information. What you are witnessing with your blog comments is the 5th step in the negative feedback loop of the link spam identification system that Google put into place months ago. It's actually 4 steps removed what what really is causing the problem.

Eventually this will happen to Bookmarks, Forum profile Links, Blog Farms of all sorts and really anyplace you can get a link from in a massive/dishonest manner AND THAT ALLOW IT. The sites have to intentionally allow things like this to occur. Conversely, what will speed up the process significantly is everyone using the same methodology because all of you are creating the same Link spam footprint. It's Google's answer to link spamming as we have been understanding it up to this point - it was an answer they developed specifically based on the problems we were causing. If you reverse engineer what link spammers do, it's pretty simple to keep your site safe and not bobbyboxed.

Oh... and it has nothing to do with "Instant".... you've got to smoke crack to think the two have anything to to with each other other than the timing of Google unlocking Instant (since it's been around since the Caffeine update, just not unlocked until now) and the real first signs of the B/N system in action and actively working against link spammers (which has also been around since Caffeine's initial release as well). To think that Instant and link tracking are directly related is a completely uneducated wild guess that is so far from correct it's scary that it was even written.

As this system develops further - expect there to be a lot more bobbyboxed sites and "WTF" posts. In addition, expect people to become much more secretive about how they link spam, because Google's only real strength is that they can sample a huge amount of data making it much easier to find spamming patterns and punishing those who don't take the proper precautions. Ergo to minimize the footprint of a single link pattern, nobody who understands what is going on will share what they personally use.

I will remind everyone that I've been making vague posts on this topic for weeks and weeks now about not following certain bits of advice you see out there. It's what happens when someone listen's to the first 5 minutes of a 6 hour lecture and thinks they know it all. It's greatly complicated, and will be punished much more quickly when dozens or hundreds of people take that same footprint, and replicate it on a massive scale because they didn't have the full story upfront. Welcome to the reality created by stupidity, the source of frustration :)

If you are going to link spam, it involves a lot more than collecting a list and clicking start - but I don't teach people about those things anymore, so my final thought for you is to begin looking for patterns, just like Google does.

Don't blame the tool if you get punished, blame the guy behind the keyboard.
