Thanks. I just nabbed that fist book. Can't believe the hardcopy sells over $100

Content writing (inbound marketing) has overtaken traditional advertising (outbound marketing) as the primary source of conversion (sales) for businesses. This makes it incredibly valuable. A good copywriter who understands how people think and can persuade you to buy something without you even realising that you are being sold to is highly prised in any industry.

You can definitely make 6 figures if you have the skills to land the right clientele. Usually the 6/7 figure projects are overtaken by larger organisations that specialise on this. I am not aware of anyone that is doing copywriting on their own (not as part of a business) and is making those figures.
