My opinion is that with $5k / year, and if you are younger, I would suggest putting the money into the VOO (S&P 500 Index) or QQQ (Nasdaq index). $5k a year is a solid place to start for those types of investments. If you are in the U.S., putting the money into an IRA account will also give you some tax benefits. Just monitor the account every so often, but over time the trend works out!
