Unfortunately, there has been a security breach involving NiceHash website. We are currently investigating the nature of the incident and, as a result, we are stopping all operations for the next 24 hours.

Importantly, our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of BTC taken.

Clearly, this is a matter of deep concern and we are working hard to rectify the matter in the coming days. In addition to undertaking our own investigation, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and law enforcement and we are co-operating with them as a matter of urgency.

We are fully committed to restoring the NiceHash service with the highest security measures at the earliest opportunity.

We would not exist without our devoted buyers and miners all around the globe. We understand that you will have a lot of questions, and we ask for patience and understanding while we investigate the causes and find the appropriate solutions for the future of the service. We will endeavour to update you at regular intervals.

While the full scope of what happened is not yet known, we recommend, as a precaution, that you change your online passwords.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and are committing every resource towards solving this issue as soon as possible."

Sucks because I hadn't withdrawn for two weeks

This is very bad news.
Thanks for the share regardless.

Everyone want`s to have a piece of pie nowadays it`s a $13k a piece.
No wonder someone chop some nice piece of cake without anyone`s premission.

Coinbase is down now: https://www.coinbase.com/

My condolences to those who lost some BTC !

Yeah, it sucks, but it isn't that much per user. If your balance is over 0.1 they payout daily and they pay out 0.01 every Friday. Unfortunately, I didn't withdraw last week, but I only lost around 0.18.

That`s why please people keep you`r Bitcoin in hardware wallets it`s better to learn from other people mistakes then you`r own ones.
These sites are not that safe to begin with.

thanks for sharing this info. Sorry to hear of the losses. That really sucks.

Thank you for the share, it explains why their website as been down. Best of luck for those who lost something.

Question is...
Who's going back in to invest with them?
Are they (buyers) insured?
In my point of view their done and buried. I could never have faith or trust a business after this.

24 hrs and they reopen..... hell no!

I am hoping they will refund customers. $60m is very little to them, and it's nothing compared to what they will lose if they don't adress the situation.

I like to oberserve things and here's what I think about your homemade bitcoin memes you been tossing around all day:
1) You invested all your money in bitcoin, now sitting on your edge of your seat everytime bitcoin news surface and you deal with the stress by paying homage to meme gods so it keeps growing;
2) Earned some money with bitcoin and gave your best shot at humour because you feeling uplifted

yeah, we get it. you're really emotionally invested into bitcoin (and financialy). if you really want to impress someone, get a bitcoin tattoo on your asscheek

Totally agree. Why would anyone go back after losing BTC. I could not transfer out as I was waiting to hit the 0.01 mark, which I did yesterday, so personally, not a big loss as I run this from a spare PC but it is a good few weeks mining, gone.

Smells off to me. Basically they are saying they have been hacked, all BTC is stolen and they have reported to authorities and are improving security. Really, now they are improving security. How do we not know that they are not simply saying this and taking the BTC themselves? Typical crypto.

Is that actually likely? Never heard of it happening before, would love to be wrong.

Don't be silly, Bitcoin is as safe as houses, the new world order.

They did it themselves, stole the money and ran off

Dude has $80m worth of BTC. Wow.

So for sure that is the hackers account? How did you sleuth it?
