$50k/Month With Apps (Failure Is Not an Option)

Nice to see journey like this here - big goal - but definitely achievable, wish you good luck! I'd like to ask you a couple of questions, hope you don't mind:

1. Do you outsource the process of developing apps you are going to promote but if you had nobody who could create apps for you, do you have enough coding skills to write an apps by yourself ? I'm asking this question because I'm curious, if you are also a developer who's just busy and can't find enough time to create new apps, or you are a guy who sees the potential of this market and want to conquer it, but personally you don't know programming languages to code an app?

2. When those people you hire to develop your apps will be ready to release it, then what happens next if this app is successful, do you just pay them for creating new app and it's end of the story for them or do they get % of earning for app ? I don't understand why those guys couldn't develop these apps and promote it in stores ? They must know the potential of this niche.

3. Once app is ready and you begin to promote it - who's the author of this ? Is there your name/your company name or is the coder of app somehow mentioned ?

Sorry if some questions are too private for you, but if someone starts a journey then for me it means that this person started it to track his progress and stay motivated but also to share some information/tips with the community :P

Good luck my friend, I appreciate the ambition.

I applaud your decision to outsourcing your technical work. It's a great method for quick success and one many people overlook.

Thanks for your post!

- No I do not have enough coding skills to develop apps. I'm the guy who sees potential of this market and want to conquer it. Again, I do not know programming languages to code an app.

- I paid the developer to create the app for me, and end of the story. Not all of them can promote their own games. You need money and time.

- I'll be uploading the app as the "developer". I can do w.e I want with the app as long as I know.

I appreciate your questions mate, and yes I'm sharing my progress and I'm motivated. Tips will be shared at the end of this journey. I can not share information/tips if I don't know if my plan is going to work. :)

Good luck, I have great ideas too but no money to outsource them!
I'll definitely get into this as soon as my other projects take off.

Have you thought about making a game similar to the so famous Flappy Bird? Although the game has been taken out of Play store, there are clones getting a lot of downloads. The best thing is that developing a game like that should not take long. It should be an easy and quick way to make some quick money, shouldn't it?

You're right. This would be an easy way to make quick money, but I'm looking for long term business, and I want to upload decent quality apps so I don't know if I would do this. Actually, you just gave me an idea (in case I fail with my game). :)

Can't wait to see how you do this. I've been looking into this for the past week and I'm really keen to learn how. I've just subscribed. Wish you well

What steps do you take in order to ensure that the developer will not steal the idea?

Very good question, I'm also interested in hearing about this. It applies to many other areas (web developers, programs, and general entreprenership).

Just a quick question, I know it's difficult to answer because it depends on many different factors, but how much should I expect to pay for a simple game, such as doodle jump or flappy bird?
Just to get the idea... $1000+, $5000+?

thanks

You can ask them to sign NDA. If they fail to comply file a lawsuit and get everything they have.

Flappy Bird can be created in up to 3-4 days from somebody who knows what he is doing. I guess a few hundred dollars should cover it. A professional could do it even faster, but I guess he will ask for the same amount.
If you are thinking of making yet another flappy bird clone, that is a bad idea. There are already 30+ clones of that game.

People saw that some guy is making $50k a month and now everyone thinks you can pay a few hundreds for a shitty looking game and bank hard.

Crap i thought it worked that way lol

Seriously, i'm still thinking about something that would be addictive ?

There are enough stupid people in the world who couldn't care less of original. So the bulk of dev that came up with flappy bird clone is making bank.

3 very stupid clone went to top 10 already and not too far down the road top 50 games will be the clone. But if you're not a seasoned dev like me, we'll miss the chance with the time it takes to create one.

Sorry I haven't update this thread guys!

Basically the developer told me that it's going to take him a few more days. He told me he should be done by Friday. Also the Android version of the game will be ready by Feb 20th (it sucks I know..) I'm just getting ready for the promotion of the game. I want to have both versions iOS/Android uploaded before March.

Stay tuned..

Alright, it's taken a bit more time than you thought but it still must be exciting to get so close to release date! I'm really curious to see how it's going to go for you.

How are you going to promote your app when it's done and which ad networks will you use? :)
