$500 to spend per month?

Hi everyone,

I'm starting a new affiliate site and any advice you give me I will really appreciate.

So, the question is: If you had $500 to spend on the site per month, where would you invest it and why?

Advertise on BHW
Content + SEO. I would start out with some informative posts and then do reviews with informative posts mixed between, you can find many marketplace threads here selling content at a very cheap price, so you could get 25+ articles per month.
 
Thanks, I can write my own content with relative ease, so will focus on SEO/Backlinks.
 
If you can write the content yourself and assuming it is quite good then i would focus on the following.

1. Backlinks - There are a lot of great link building services here on BHW at a very affordable price.

2. Paid advertising - You should have like $470-$480 for this. This is a decent advertisement budget for an affiliate website imo. You should also invest some of that money into outsourcing the video creation for the ad as well as the graphic elements for your social media profile accounts.

TOP PRIORITY: Hire an SEO expert to go over your website and make sure it is fully optimized. This should be YOUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. Nothing else should matter to you. If you don´t have a "healthy" website all that money invested on link building will just go to waste.

How does one determine if someone is an SEO expert and where is the best place to find someone? I feel like a lot of people give themselves that title even when lacking the experience.

There are very talented people everywhere. Even here on BHW there are some incredible SEO services you can get. Even on places with such a bad reputation when it comes to SEO related services like Fiverr and SEOClerks you can find some "hidden gems" but it´s mostly a gamble.

Here on the marketplace you can request samples or review copies for you to check the quality of the work for yourself BEFORE you even buy. You can also go through the most recent comments on the members to check for their feedback/opinions/reviews on the service.

100% agree with this. People watch a couple of SEO YouTube tutorials, read a couple of blog post and follow a few SEO marketers over twitter and they already call themselves an "expert".
 
If you have $500 per month to spend and your goal is to make ecom affiliate commission, you dont need to make an affiliate site and wait months for it to hopefully rank.

Instead i would use the money to pay for traffic and build an email list you can then market to.

Then take some of the profits and build out an seo strategy on what you know is working for you.
 
I would invest in just content for the first month or two. Then split the budget down the middle on more fresh content and backlinks.

Keep in mind the written content needs to be better than anything else in your niche. Video content and a YouTube channel should also be part of your content plan.

How are you with keyword research? might be worth finding someone who can make sure you great writing is not put to waste on articles nobody is searching for.

Try out a few writers until you can find someone better than you. Then put most of your money into content for a few months. You cant have too much great content so if you are writing it and buying it all the better.

If you spend 500 a month on SEO early on you will likely get tanked. The problem with buying SEO is its hard to hire the right person unless your fairly versed in it yourself. That being said if you do you due diligence and use the link building packages that are premium you can do very well in the marketplace here. @MisterF and @WebMinati new bst comes to mind. Even with nice services I would start very slow in the beginning.

Thanks for the advice everyone, it's helped a lot.

@MountainGuy My keyword experience is really confined to Amzon, so based on what you and the other posters have advised, I'm going to look into some of the quality keyword and SEO services on here, make sure my content is on point, then, as Gringo recommend, focus on ads and list building.
