$500 Starting Budget - What's next?

Hey guys,

I've been a BHW member for a while, mostly just lurking around and reading posts.
I've currently set aside a small starting budget of $500 and I'm looking to try something new.

I'm in no means in a rush to see a positive ROI, but I'm hoping that I one day could turn this into a full-time thing.

I have what I would call decent skills when it comes to WP and PS, so I'm able to produce good looking websites, etc. I've developed a few basic apps for iOS in the past. And I've also dabbled in the dropshipping scene a couple of years prior. So I know my way around the internet but when it comes to IM I'm still a newbie.

So I'm curious, if you guys were to start again what would you start with?
I'm by no means asking for your trade secrets, just simply a stepping stone in the right direction :)

For this budget, i would say to check codecanyon, see what Saas are available to buy (usually 30-200$), domain, hosting, and with the rest of the money, promotion on fb/install/google depending on what you choose.

If you have that PS skills. Develop some nice banner, offer some trial packages, promote them producthunt/indiehacker etc and start gaining back your money and make profit afterward.

Just my 2 cents.
 
Before even deciding on a theme, I'd say decide on a niche - what exactly do you want your site to be about? What would you enjoy writing about? What can you write about regularly that wouldn't feel like a "hassle" - That you really don't get tired of talking about?

Once you know what your site will be about, THEN pick out a theme that would fit that topic...

Yes, you can really readjust any theme to "make it work" but why make more work for yourself?

Then, produce 5-10 pieces of original content.. Make do this before publishing of course.. around the same time, create social media profiles for the site.. Which platforms you choose should largely depend on the topic of your blog (don't spread yourself too thin and be on all of the platforms in a half-ass fashion when the majority of your target audience is only on one or two)....

Just go to journey section and pick the journeys related to your area of interest. Follow and study that deeper and start your own journey..

Good choices! What about drop shipping via WP or Shopify (although Shopify is pretty expensive to start with)
 
Man, use the $500 for your developing skills. Knowing how to create great websites and how to code apps is a highly demanded skill

Thank you very much for compiling this list of options for me! I will read through all the posts and choose a starting path.
