$500/Month Amazon Merch Journey

Well for me. I'm doing them all myself I have 3 designs live. I didnt add any new ones this week because of vacation.
Note: I'm only doing handmade original designs for now. I'll work on this harder to motivate OP and because it makes me feel artistic that people might actually buy my designs.
1 shirt sold $5.50 profit this week

So I've been slacking lately and since amazon's affiliate rate dropped their commission rates, my earnings have dropped 40%.

I have been using photoshop for a long time and have a lot of experience creating designs. Yes I know how to create content. So here it goes!

I'll be creating my own designs which will mostly be text or simple graphics. I'll be looking at forums/viral news sites to look for what is trending and also some upcoming worldwide events. I've seen a lot of st.patrick's day shirts and easter shirts popping lately and it seems that there are many designers who grinds!

I usually price the shirts from $14.99-19.99 depending on how many colors or how long it took me to design.

Day 1
I've uploaded 3 designs last year and got a total of $20 in commission. I can have 25 total submissions and a maximum of 2 designs per day.

I also edited those designs which got rejected because of trademark or didn't make any sale for 60 days. So I made some set of designs and updated everything.

I'll tally the monthly income till I reach $500 a month and would sell the account for probably 15-18x the 3 month trailing average. Also I'm doing this to motivate myself and keep a record.

If you have some suggestions, please feel free to share.
Good luck on your journey! Any updates on how things are going?

UPDATE:

I was in a conference and also was busy with offline job. Here is the progress:

Some of the designs got pulled because of copyright infringement (I didn't, but someone reported it so I had to let it go)
So I currently have 18 designs and was tiered up to 100 shirts!

Will try to find a niche and create about 20 designs for that micro niche.

At least I know that my designs are selling.

Update:

3 more sales.
I had 6 days without sales after getting tiered up to 100.
Still have 18 designs. Will be doing more soon.

Just a question. I saw a screenshot of yours where it looked like Amazon where checking every design you are uploading. Is this true? Cause I have a Merch account but I´m too afraid of uploading some designs because of Trademarks. So if you are uploading them and they checking it positive, does that mean you are safe?

not 100% sure but it feels like youtube. I'm sure you could get a copyright strike but they check the shirts pretty well. At least the kw's. The art isnt whats hard to get away with it's the kw's and titles. IF you plan to go that route.

What do you mean by "kw´s and titles"?

you upload a shirt design then you give it a title and description. those are the only way people find your shirt organically so if you copied a pokemon shirt or didn't if the the title and description sounds like you did you have to re-do it.
If i make this sound painful it's not. This is literally the easiest most semi auto pilot way to make money online

@faithjhung
It is strange that you seem to have major issue with the trademarks lol - you can look that up before you submit a shirt FYI. You dont want your Merch account suspended by stupid things like that.

I got 17 products and 1-2 seem to be hot sellers - designs uploaded back in April. I noticed that as you upload the design it takes about a month for it to start shuffling and showing up on top of search - do you experience that too?

It was because I was putting "Amazon" somewhere. I was saying it was one of the best they can find in amazon.

I made 2 more variations of my best sellers and made it a premium shirt. Priced it at $21.99

@faithjhung

Do you have any front and back designs? If yes how are the sales?
Reason I'm asking is because most designs out there are front ONLY. Bit boring in my opinion.

July update:

Profit for the month: $83.52

Update for August 2017

Currently have 44 shirts. Submission for the day is only 2 so it takes time uploading 2 per day.
Some that didn't sell was removed.

August profit: $64.11
There's at 10% withholding tax so less profit for me.

So far so good. I was targeting the solar eclipse but looks like I'm too late. Nothing sold from the 10 shirts which was focused on the eclipse.
Will start targeting Halloween from now.

You should really fix your TM problems. A LOT of people i know got suspended last week and they were bragging non stop about how they "trick" amazon.

Any suggestions on doing it? I check the TM before I start designing. So it's pretty much an evergreen niche.

I would start to use merchinformer to check for tm and check also your bulletpoints words with it. On facebook there are a lot of merch groups where members post new unsecure words because they got trade marked, can't tell you them because i m in the office right now.

How do I apply for an Amazon account and join the journey too. I've got great skill using Corel draw.
