500 - Internal Server Error
Please refresh this page or try again later." error. The hosting company tells me to optimize the database and mentions slow queries. But I'm not a developer and I can't do this. Is there a way to fix this?

Did you publish too many articles? Why they won't help you? Seems nonsense, I guess Namecheap will help on such issue.

SiteGround cannot support database optimization.

Can be some plugin or theme issues. Disable all the plugins and see.

Hosting people are clueless about WP technical issues most of the times.
The site cannot be accessed due to a 500 error, so it cannot be deactivated.

Do you have access to your php error logs?

Here are some fixes you can try.
01. Disable plugins and themes using FTP. After this try to log in to wp-admin.
02. Install WordPress manually.
03. If your site works yesterday without any issue. Then try to use your backup and try to restore them. It will replace DB and files.

In most cases this issue coming because of the corrupted files. So in the first step, you can find out if that issue is on plugins or themes. If It is not you should follow the second step. If it's still not working try to restore backups.

SiteGround Technician gave me a list of sites with slow queries. Shall we restore only that site to last month?

Look at your server log first. That should be located at / var/ log / apache2 / error.log (remove spaces. for nginx / var / log / nginx, file name may vary). If your hosting provider said problem with db, then it probably means that the mysql/mariadb process is taking more memory than what you have, and crashing. A way to resolve this without changing the plan would be to add some swap memory (it's slow, but your db wont die) if you have root access to the server. If you want to know how to add swap memory, google it. :)

Is that mean you are facing the same error on all the sites on the server?

If it's a shared hosting and you are using wordpress there is not much that you can do with query optimization. It's time to move to a vps. How many websites are you hosting currently and what resources are you using atm

Can we see the error log? And can we see memory usage too? If your site takes a lot of memory than you have it will lead to down and crash your db. If it's the issue you need to go for the upper plan. If somehow your DB has an error or coding issue, u need to restore the backup. But before do anything remember to get the latest backup from your site.

500 error occurs on all sites, but the slow query problem seems to occur only on a few sites

What does that mean? It's not on earth? :p

Do you have root access to the server, or don't you? If you do, the above mentioned steps will work. If not, you have no other way to resolve this than to contact the support.
