Hello BHW members I have a quick question.

I have $500 to invest and my plan right now is to use Google Ads to promote website creation services. That’s my starting idea, but I want the community’s take before I pull the trigger.

Specifically I’m asking: do you think Google Ads is the best play here, or are there faster/cheaper/better alternatives to get clients for web design? I’m open to other services, related or completely different, that sell at medium or high ticket and are easy to find customers for.

What I’d love from you in short answers: one clear recommendation, one realistic budget split for the $500 if relevant, an example offer that converts into a retainer, and one real metric or short example you’ve used (CPL, conversion %, avg ticket, or a 1-line ad/outreach message that worked).

Thanks tell me your best single tactic first.

@Douli911

Sorry to say it, but $500 in web creation services and etc. niche like that is nothing))) so, my advice would be not to invest $500 into ads.

If you have a budget of $500, you can use it wisely (I say this because the budget is low; otherwise, Google Ads is a platform that creates a very good customer network).

It depends on your business. If there's a lot of competition in your business, don't even try it with $500, as there could be a lot of fake clicks.

Google would be the best solution, especially search ads, but with 500 dollars, you're not gonna go anywhere. Running ads costs more than 500 bucks.

While Google Ads can be effective, I would recommend focusing on Facebook and Instagram Ads for your web design services. These platforms tend to offer more cost-effective solutions, especially for local businesses or startups, as they allow you to target specific demographics and showcase your work visually. With your $500 budget, I suggest allocating around $250 for Facebook and Instagram Ads, focusing on local businesses or industries that may need website redesigns or new websites. You can then reserve $100 for Google Ads, targeting specific keywords like “affordable web design” to capture search intent. Additionally, dedicating $50 for re targeting

campaigns on both platforms will help re-engage visitors who didn’t convert. Lastly, using the remaining $100 for cold outreach (email or LinkedIn) can be an effective way to directly connect with businesses that might need your services. A great offer to present could be something like: “Get a professionally redesigned website in 3 weeks, starting at $X, plus 3 months of ongoing maintenance.” In terms of metrics, Facebook Ads generally provide a cost-per-lead (CPL) of around $10-$15 for web design services. I’ve found that a simple ad copy like “Need an updated website? Let’s design it for you in 3 weeks! Contact us for more details” tends to perform well. I hope this helps guide your next steps, and feel free to reach out if you need further clarification.

Thanks for this really detailed answer.

Actually I had started before with Meta ads on both FB and IG and the results was horrible and I had a even higher budget than 500$. I re worked many times on the creatives to find the best hooks and the best one converting. I ended up having low CPC and low CPL sure, but that was really poor quality leads that didn't even converted at the end.

If you have any idea or alternatives I am happy to hear it.

If all you got is $500, skip ads. Find GBPs with ugly sites and reach out with a good offer.

I totally understand your concern — getting low-quality leads after spending a big budget is really frustrating. Don’t worry, I can make this much easier for you. I’ll help you set up a complete high-intent strategy where you’ll get genuine, converting leads instead of just cheap clicks. We’ll target the right audience using Google Search Ads and retarget warm users on Meta who’ve already shown interest, ensuring quality results. I’ll also guide you on optimizing your landing page and using influencer or UGC content for better trust and engagement. With this approach, you’ll start seeing real, valuable conversions — not just numbers.

This is absolutely crap.
$500 is not enough for Google Ads, so $100?? How is he gonna collect the audience for remarketing? Google requires 1000 active users in remarketing audiences.

You need a very different method to get this to work

You will.need to understand platforms
Beyound Google and and FB as you know them

You will then look for the most suitable according to.your skillset

You basically stack up 3 channels potent enough to deliver
And cheap enough for.your budget
And provides for quick response
To meet your immediate

If I were you, I'd create a template of a design and send it to all the business in the same niche, saying you already developed it but want to make sure they actually want it before you post it live.

You'll likely get a response or two because you're not just offering web design service, you already did the work.

Too small budget for Google Ads, maybe try to advertise on niche groups on social media or something. Or create interactive portfolio and develop organic content on your personal brand page

This is so bad, you create super complicated strategy but target low ticket clients. So you basically want him to spend money on ads and get ugc content to impress cheapskates. I'm sure he can get crap clients like that for cheaper or free even.

advertisement, for the services that you are offering, should be chosen, as a way to find customers, depending where you are right now, the physical place.

Correct, instead OP upload your videos on tiktok and yt shorts and get free traffic.

So what could be a good low budget for this one ? To get interesting leads
