I started a new site in April this year, wanted to get it high ranked quickly before the summer (it's a summer niche) and did some aggressive backlinking. It worked great at first, I ranked on the first page of google for multiple
keywords and made a lot of money. But as you guessed it, I got slapped with the -50 penalty. I've been trying to get it back but have been unsuccesfull. I've tried quality backlinks with a high diversity in keywords and adding original content.

I'm not sure what to do. Start a new site and take it slow this time with the backlinking or keep trying to build backlinks and adding content.

I did a backlink analysis and it doesn't look very good. A lot of backlinks are from the same sites with high obl and there's no way I can delete them all. I also do have quality backlinks and I got the site to a PR4 within 3-4 months so it would be a shame to let this one go.

Any advice?

I received -50 penalty too, but I think it went away after a while. However, I've also changed domains since. Maybe try that?

Get new domain name, put the same content there and 301 redirect your domain to it so the link juice carries over. I think it might work, because otherwise you could easily apply the -50 penalty to your competitors site.

I have a site that is 8 months under a -50 Penality and I don't have find any way to get it out..

I have seen sites get 12 month slaps before

Check my thread about panda and slaps, it might help you out

:(

I'm thinking of starting over, removing my old domain, setup a new one and copy the content. Very slow backlinking this time. If it gets penalized again I'll know it's because of the content (but I don't think it is the cause)

Some of you guys should test moving to new domain. I would but I don't think mine is banned anymore. I remember that shortly after transferring I finally got past the 50+ position. If it happens to you too, then we can be sure about it.

i got a -50 penalty too, then i bought 50 qualitty +1 and were on first page again:D

Um.. where you see that -50 penalty?

I been told many times by now , that excessive back linking only put the value 0 to thoese links no penalty .

It make sense as well , if excessive backlinking can put a penalty then people will go put the blast on competitor sites 247 , or simply go to fiverr and tell them to do it for peanuts and would have made their life easy .

I seriously suggest something wrong with onsite or you have lots of competition . Also try changing keyword and then search and that might help .

For no reason but changing to www or removing www from site sometimes helped .

Hope it helps....

Hm.. weird. I have never got any emails like that, but I like to build too many backlinks too fast :)
All I get are wordpress update emails..

to OP: how much money would you say that you made? how hard was it to rank for those keywords right away? How long were you ranked for before the drop?

A beautiful day I was over at Flippa checking some of the auctions (the perfect place to get good niches) and saw a site which was a turnkey site from which the owner claimed $30k earnings per month via Adsense. He was ranking TOP 3 for the main keyword and since I knew there was money in there I started my journey.

I bought a 6 months old domain name which had the keyword on it and then I started building *massive* backlinks. Mainly mix of SB / forum profiles and authority paid links from PR 7, PR 8 sites.

In less than 2 months I was ranking #2nd and the cash started to pour in however I only maintained that position for a couple of weeks. After that I was in the fifth page and after reading around I understood it was a -50 penalty.

The best part is that I didn't get penalized due to the amount of backlinks, I got penalized because the site was auto-generating content and all that content was getting indexed on Google.

I'm thinking to change the script and use a different one but tbh I have been quite busy

My word of advice? Mix the links and spend some money on strong backlinks from PR5-PR8, I'm sure you will make that money back once you get that sweet little number #1 ranking position :)

Thats was exactly my point ... it usually due to factor other than back links.
