Hello there! I've been a member here for quite some time now but has always been a lurker. So, this is my first journey thread here and my goal is to earn at least $50/day by the end of this year (ideally) or within six months. I know that's a low number for some (or most?) of you here but when I reach that goal, that essentially replaces the income I generate from my day job (I'm from a 3rd world country and that's how small we earn over here...). But before moving on, here's some background.
I'm not really new to IM. I was introduced to IM back in 2006. And back then I was doing the Google Cash method where you promote your affiliate link on Adwords. I made some sales but I encountered several problems:
1) I was paid via check. And since I'm living somewhere in Southeast Asia, it presented problems to my cashflow.
2) I promoted the wrong offer. It converted well, but the payout was too low.
3) I was one of the affiliates that was affected by Adwords banning direct linking to sales page. That was also the time when they introduced quality score to landing pages.
I had to quit what I was doing as it was no longer profitable.
Fast forward to 2009, I made money from CPA using SEO. But like most of SEOers, I got burned by Big G's constant algorithmic change.
Fast forward to 2012, I made money from Clickbank via FB Ads. Again, I did direct linking to the sales page. At first it was profitable but when competition got fierce, I had to let go.
Fast forward to today, I decided to do things right even if it takes a while. And by right, I mean not relying on SEO, having a landing page and creating a list.
Actually this journey of mine started a few weeks ago but I want to put it into writing now so that:
1) It would serve as my journal and help me be accountable
2) I would get top-notch advice from you guys (shout out to Mancar who has helped me a lot already!)
3) This would be a source of inspiration to others (I hope so!)
Let's start.
If I'm not mistaken, this journey started last month, September 26. I read some WSO (I know right!) and followed it. Here's what I did initially:
1) Find a product to promote in Clickbank using Mancar's method.
2) Use Bing as my traffic source. I opened an account and bought a $100 coupon from Fiverr worth $5 to get me started.
The initial plan was to simply direct link to the sales page and then create a landing page when sales came in... and fortunately for me it did! However, the WSO I was following gave bad advice. I appreciate it for getting me started but it told me to get a bunch of keywords for the product (500-1000) and simply add them in in a campaign, in a single ad group and then run the ad! That's definitely bad advice since optimization would be a nightmare and scaling up would be hard.
So I ditched the WSO and did my own thing by following other journeys here and scouring this forum for advice. Here's what I did:
1) Bought hosting worth $5 on ASO to install Prosper202
2) Segmented my keywords into appropriate Ad groups
3) Created landing pages on one of my existing unused domains
4) Use GetResponse to setup my autoresponder
This is my first time doing #3 and #4 so I am a total noob on those. My landing pages convert at 10% which I believe is very low.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of my earnings so far:

These earnings are from promoting 2 products.
While my list size is 6, LOL!!!
While here are my expenses:
$100 Bing coupon - $5
ASO hosting - $5
Bing Ads - $145 (this is after the coupon has been used out)
GetResponse - $15 (not yet but almost)
So that would be a profit of $241. Divide it by 19 days and that is $12.68/day, so more or less $38 more to go!
I definitely have a lot more to learn, improve and implement.
Here are some immediate goals:
- Add more ad groups to the 2nd product I'm promoting since I only have 1 as of now. But though I only have 1, it has already brought me a sale so that's good news
- Optimize my LPs more. I believe there's a lot to improve. I think the average is 30-50% conversion?
- Try out solo ads for traffic. Have been reading a lot of ebooks on it lately, so I simply have to try it out
- Segment my email list
- Optimize my Bing campaigns. It is very unoptimized right now
I hope to do all these slowly but surely. I have a day job so that takes priority but I will definitely push this through.
TLDR - Guy got burnt several times in IM, but now coming back with a vengeance (I hope?)
Until next time!
