This week marks my fifth website sold over a 5 year period.

Al thanks to BHW members. My latest webste sold for $1500 (Flippa) with only 5 bids and within 3 days of auction the site reached it's reserve price of $1500.

Site age: 1 Year
Post count: 155 posts
Page Count: 33 Pages
Average monthly profit: $15 (Over a 12 month period)
Monthly visitors: 800

Income:
The site made around $15 a month from Amazon.com
It also made a few sales from Amazon.ca
It also generated a few dollars from Adsense ($6 a month)
It shows a steay increase in traffic month after month

This shows that it does'nt matter if your website makes a few dollars you can capatalize on other oppertunities to increase the value of your website.

1. You have a large amount of posts and pages
2 Your website is growing
3. It is appoved for adsense
4. Generate income from affiliate site

Once again thanks to this amazing forum.

Thats great but i cant understand how you gor $1500 for a site earning for $15 per month!

I think it was because of the number of posts and pages. And I took a gamble and it payed off.

What would you to be a safe formula for pricing a site? For example if I bought a pizza shop or small store pricing the place at 3 to 5 times the NET profit made in one year is pretty standard from what I 've been apart of . I can't imagine websites are much different so your 180 for a year flipped to 1500 seems really cool.

Do you have any numbers of the other sites if you don't mind?

Congratulations! From my experience, it is better to focus on more affiliate programs (not only adsense or amazon - see the commission cut from the last year). More aff programs=more ways to bring the revenue. If a site is making a pasive $50/mo amount, you can sell it with at least $1.5k. If you scale up the process, it is better.

It depends on the overall quality of the website (age, design, structure) and the quality of the content. If someone else thinks he could do a better job, in matters of promotion, he will buy it and make the proper improvements.

Not so long ago I sold a such aff website with a monthly revenue of $8, for approx. $3k (yes, the value were around $240, according to the 30x normal calculation, but the buyer viewed the opportunity in acquiring it). The best thing in this process is to find the right buyer.

That too much or less ?
I figured that does make a nice deal unless I'm mistaking.

S.P - 1500USD
Earned :

Amazon
15 x 12 = 180 USD
Adsens3
6x 12 = 72 USD

Total = 252 USD

CP ;

155 posts on average of 500 words.

Average BHW writer charges 6 USD for 500Words.

6 x 155 = 930 USD.

Domain : 10 USD
Hosting : Shared averaging 30 USD.

Total CP : 930 +40 = 970 USD

Net profit = 1500 USD - 970 USD
530 USD

CP: Cost Price and SP : Selling price respectively...

its too much if we are looking 30 X monthly profit!

So is 30X monthly profit a good baseline for websites then because I am almost shocked at that number. Not too bad at all.

Sites sell for up to 30X their monthly revenue
So, scaling up monthly revenue can have a drastic effect on overall asset value.
That was a great deal though.
Were all of those posts handwritten or did you blend in with re-written content?

Because the value is not a fixed value.

If I saw a site with tons and tons of decent articles, and I can see the SEO is no where near the SEO standards I use. I know I can turn that $15 a month into $500 a month very quickly.

Therefor $1500 for a $15 per month site can actually be a hell of a bargain.

It's more than likely an SEO expert bought that, and is planning on flipping it quickly. Redirect the interlinks, pushed the money pages a bit higher, optimize the site with conversions strategies and boom you have tons more visitors and sales conversion increases.

Most of the posts and pages were rewriiten. Some of these content were ranking on position 1 - 3 while an average of 30 keywords were ranking between position 4 - 10.
The sales volume were ok but it was mostly $20 - $30 sales which left me with a commision of $0.9. So you need to sell hundreds of items to make a decent profit.

Congrats OP, but $1500 for a year of work with a lot of articles, seems to cheap to me, I´ll bet the buyer is very happy on that purchase.
