I'm working on doing a campaign on an ebook. I'm trying to work the numbers out. This may be a dumb question. But if i work my landing page out decent can i expect a 5% conversion rate? Or is this unheard of?

Also, I am marketing to a fairly desperate market. So i would guess i would have higher conversions.

Can anyone atest to what their typical conversion rates are that they get?

I'm working on SEO and PPC with this.

    Absolutely possible mate.

With the right sales page and a desperate target market, there is no reason you cannot do higher than 5%.

you can get a fair idea to see how others are converting in your niche...if it's selling; you just need to send the desperate people and make them feel the comfort they need/want while placing an order....(i think everything goes perfectly alright by the time they have to take their cards out; they try to find one or other reason not to do that...if can keep them busy in those moments, there's no point you can't see 5% conversion...I myself have witnessed 15-20 percent conversion sometimes)...
    Happy New Year

For PPC you need to build your list. Email campaign usually convert more than your landing page :) Use more emotion words in your landing pages.

Conversion Rate based on where the crowd is and also keywords you are targeting on. Use Google Trends & insight search for more information about the keywords you are bidding on.

My advice is quit playing with Google Adwords if you are new to this area.
