Many arguments ensue on how to arrive at the answer with lots of screen shots being posted of calculators and online math engines all providing either an answer of 2 or 288.

So whats the answer?

I will say 2, since 2 needs to mutiply (9+3). 48:24 = 2

There was a huge thread here already, but the answer is 2

Without looking up the "correct answer", I think 288. But more importantly, here's why. Order of operation is divison before multiplication. Even if you ignore that and use left to right, it still works. Stick a "*" between "2" and "(", make you happier?

9+3= 12
12x2= 24
48/24=2

99% sur that the answer is 2

I think 2(9+3) implies they are together.

In the real world, the equation would have context and we would know what the denominator is supposed to be. This argument is about semantics, which is a waste of time.

the answer is 2. basic math and computer science.

you all process stuff in the parentheses first
then multiplication
then division

Actually I looked it up at knowyourmeme.com (everythign you read on the internet is true) and although my logic is flawed, it would appear I'm still (probably) correct. Also, OP is apparently a troll.

Are we really gonna do this again? Just did this like two weeks ago. And BTW this is posted on every forum in the world...

?? Because I read this elsewhere and decided to view thoughts from people of a more "Intelligent" community?

Well, There was nothing between the 2 and the brackets, so im gunna say that means multiply??

48/2 = 24
(9 + 3) = 12

24 X 12 = 288
