450 Autoblogs Banned From Google - Why?

An IP is about 0.40/month or less bought in bulk, so, why not? an autoblog will make much more than that a month. About the .info, I agree, but it's a cheap solution when you have no initial money to go big.
Hosting charges? get a dedicated box, 150 a month, 2tb traffic, like 100ips or so.

Also, just because I would setup an optimal 1blog/domain, doesn't mean it should be your optimal setup, the several subdomains and main blog is good too.

So, making some numbers, say you have 1000 blogs on 200 domains, one host.
So, about 220/month in hosting(with IPs) plus, say 8.5/.com/year, that would be 4340$/year maintenance.
Now, earnings, 1000 blogs at 3$/month(and I'm sure you can get much more than that over time, just like you can keep adding blogs to the server, as you don't get much traffic, a single server can handle the load most of the time) would give you 3k month, so 36000 - 4340 = 31660$ earnings per year on such setup. You can always keep scaling up, as that is rather small if you ask me(I mean, why not go bigger?).

Also, you can hire some indians to find you the feeds and niches, pay them 2$/hour.

K well we can all speculate on what might have happened to the blogs, but here's a piece of advice...

It's possible (AND LIKELY) that your domain was sandboxed... it happens to a lot of people when you are newly listed.

I had it happen to one of my domains when I ran blogsolution with 150 blogs, matter of days it was sandboxed.. I thought it was banned. 2 weeks later, all the blogs were indexed and working as they should.

You should give it time.

I like to drip data into search engines, not a full blown viral marketing technique. This runs you less of a chance to get sandboxed.

P.S. I ran all those blogs on the same domain with same IP, and same IP as all my other autoblogs (real WP autoblogs).

I never have any issues with indexing on same IP/with subdomains.

I don't interlink my blogs though, unless it's done via a different web 2.0 property (i.e. squidoo).

Interlinking multiple blogs on same IP will draw attention to you.
 
Another poster a few months ago listed 250 sites that offer a blogging platform. There's a world out there of beyond WP and blogger, of already established systems that are already on different IPs. Perhaps a move to create more standalone scripts and services to create and sustain an autoblog across these different sites is in order.

There are also dozens of decent free subdomain hosts to put a WP blog on, or non-blog html pages that can be 'blogified' with standalone scripts---and any page that can be converted into a blog style site can also be automated. I think we are only at the dawn of the autoblog farm age, and Google bans will only fuel the spread of them to the rest of the blog site universe.
 
You put all your egg's in one basket..... So if one egg got found then they will see all the rest. It is apparent that you had a human review on one of the blogs, they than found all 450 and blanket banned the whole domain. Additionally what was the quality of the autoblogs? Last year I decided to play with them a bit and created different variations to see which worked and which did not. I found that the ones that used RSS feeds, ie posting the content of a feed (not full feed) got banned within a few months. However the ones posting aritcles and full feeds while using a rewriter are still up and live today. Also the ones that posted a large amount daily, got banned quickly.

One of the other things I noticed was the XML Sitemaps Plugin that was basically telling google 'I am running an Auto Blog!'. Most people just dont think about this. When you have this plugin loaded, its preset confiruation is to auto nofity search engines every time a new post is made. Therefore I am sure there are Flags triggered if you domain keeps submitting a new sitemap to google every couple of seconds cos of a new post on one of the 450 autoblogs. So if you have the XML plugin on a autoblog, then set it to Manual Notify and update it once a week manually (or a weekly cron)

I think putting autoblogs on is safe only when the main domain contains some unique content - I've been doing like this:

On main domain (some unique content, written by hand) I've been pulling random links (using Ranom Blogroll plugin) to all my subdomain autoblogs (and those were diffrent links, sometimes point sitemap.xml, other time to some post etc..), some of them were using rewriter plugins and were very crappy, while others have the quality of techchuck.com (it's been described here on BHW as the best autoblog :)). Also all my autoblogs have backlink(s) to main domain. None of them got banned, even those crappy ones. I do linkbuilding mostly for main domain, and thanks to that my autoblogs get indexed pretty fast and I'm of course I'm using Onlywire and pinging on some of them.

It's also VERY important when u hosting all blogs on one IP to DIFFERENTIATE THEM. You should make them look like they were done by different people - use different plugins, themes and of course, different niches.

Now, if Google ever bans your subdomain, you just setup 301 redirection to from old to new one, and this passes the Pagerank and the Google site parameter to new domain.
 
why is many subdomain a problem?

wordpress.com and blogspot hosts thousands of subdomains.

what if i have a new wpmu site, does it mean it will get banned if i have many subdomain blogs hosted on it?
 
I don't do autoblog, but here is my opinion of what you can to get away with a cheaper single ip setup.

You could host them on shared hostgator where your ip is shared with tons of other folks. Just make sure all the themes are different, domains are not registered with the same co. on the same day. Goog is not going to ban everyone's domain on the same ip (at least I hope they are that smart). That .htaccess blocks access to your plugins directory so goog cannot see all the nice plugins (autoblog plugins) you have loaded :)

Also I think if you want to massively scale, use clickbank products and mask the links with something like tinyurl. AdSense is tough for scaling up.
 
- 50 autoblogs per hosting account (you might be able to stretch this to 100)
- 5 accounts per host
- main domain should be a quality page with lots of content. I use hostmonster who let you add a 2nd independent subdomain and I turn it into a 2nd quality page. I also add a dedicated affililiate page to the links so the whole blog farm is interlinked but eventually pointing to 3 quality sites.
- mix in about half of your autoblogs as linkers, no adsense, or put another companies ads on these like adbrite or something.
- build slowly, just a couple every week. this is a long term strategy
- don't add content all at the same time or too often, space it out
- don't ping too often, set up a random schedule. couple pings a week is probably safe.
 
for subdomain, how about setting up a WP MU, and pretending you are free host provider, say that in the header boldly, set up your blog here....

But make anyone who signs up nofollow, except yourself.

Don't interlink your autoblogs on same IP. If you want to interlink, invest in Multiple IP Hosting.

Don't post too much to new blogs. Start slow. Build links around autoblogs as it will get your blog high in serp.
 
Isn't it cheaper if you use 1 autoblog on 1 very cheap hosting account,instead of using the expensive SEO Hosting accounts which will give you 5-10 C Class IP's?
 
Like James said, don't interlink them if on one IP. also:

-different whois info
-different themes
-disallow access to your plugin dir, via .htaccess
-not the same adsense

then should be ok

NEVER use analytics

same adsense actually doesnt bring to ban from my experience

I think iglow has a better approach than me, I would go with that recommendation.
 
From my experience Iglow is right with the #s. Sometimes it's better not to push it.
 
My auto blogs got deindex, too. And not only one of my domain got banned, there are 5 domain banned by google. I have several domain in two hosting accounts.

I think google don't like auto blogs and I don't know why.
